Kansas City Congressman Cleaver has made the fight for a fast food fair wage a main staple of his office over the past year.
Mostly, his work has focused on the urban core workers who have held a variety of protests on the front.
However, a recent clip shows that Congressman Cleaver touting fair wages for the ladies. This testimonial in Brookside from Lindsay Walker is party of that effort:

As long as he wants this job, the black voters of this district will continue to vote for him. Makes me ill.
ReplyDeleteinstead of hammering the likes of Burger King and McDonalds to do Cleavers job, he should be doing more to encourage job GROWTH, manufacturing, etc but he is attacking fast food jobs which were NEVER meant to support whole families, we need to get past re-electing this guy based on the color of his skin and despite every criminal act this man does, ie. taking bribes and calling them tithes, tax evasion and dump that bum and put someone else into office.

ReplyDeletepush aside the race issue, the legal issues of this man, the absolute ignorance of the general public and what makes this man smile election after election is that despite businesses that have fled Kansas City in droves, despite the tax breaks that get bigger and bigger like those that Burns & Mac receive, despite crime and murder that is only equalled in the middle east the people STILL vote this man into office and chant at the great strives he has made, when this man says he has brought X amount of millions in stimulus money to KC the ONLY ONES that should be celebrating that is companies like JE Dunn who built their world headquarters in what the State says is a HUB Zone (across the street from City Hall) imagine that? an underutilized business zone? why arent people outraged??? and Burns & McDonnell, long after you are dead people will be still handing over those tax breaks they were given at the expense of the TAX PAYERS! that means YOU and ME.

ReplyDeleteWages are subject to the laws of supply and demand even if those like Cleaver are too ignorant to realize it. What we have in this country is an ever increasing supply of uneducated, unskilled and undisciplined workers. When you increase the supply of something without increasing demand the price declines. That rule cannot be repealed by making a law.

ReplyDeleteThe fact is, someone in Cleavers position reminds me of that fool mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin and all of the Mayors of Detroit for the last 40 years. Their job (according to those who elected him/them) is to get and disseminate as much government money as possible. I mean do these people do anything for their districts besides that? Is Cleaver going to corporate America to get industry put back there? Anywhere for that matter. Look his shithole district up in 30 years and you will see another brotha or sista running the place for the same purpose. Of course I am of the opinion that this country will be broke from entitlements by then anyhow. Might I suggest life overseas? Less bullshit and less waste.

ReplyDelete1. women work fewer hours
2. it compares different professions and calls them the same, i.e., Surgeon and Pediatrician are both classified as doctor
3. men work higher risk/higher pay jobs like construction
4. women overwhelmingly work in lower paid similiar feilds, i.e., family law, pediatrics, etc.
5. corrected for these factors there is not only no pay disparity, but college educated women earn more than their male counterparts.
All that said, Linsdey Walker is HAWT!
