Kansas City Chiefs Celebrate Native Culture

Here's an important BREAKING NEWS link in our ongoing Kansas City celebration of diversity.

The Kansas City Chiefs seem to be doing their best to avoid the same backlash that has demonized the racist-named Redskins organization.

Take a look:

KC BIZ JOURNAL: Chiefs will honor American Indian Heritage Month

Deets:

"The Kansas City Chiefs teamed up with the American Indian Community Working Group to set up a major celebration of American Indian Heritage Month at Arrowhead Stadium.

"The event comes after a year in which Native American groups, civil rights activists and even elected officials have pressured Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder to change the name of his team. The debate about the use of names and logos viewed as offensive to Native Americans hasn't involved the Chiefs to this point, but it has made teams more sensitive about their brands, logos and game-day traditions."

It's a token gesture to be sure but still an important tribute to community outreach that keeps the Kansas City Chiefs mech only marginally offensive rather than the outright hatred reflected in the Redskins logo.

  2. I agree. Tony why don't you go to the national restaurant chain, PONCHOS, founded by Hispanics, and tell them their names stereotypes Hispanics and is racists. I'll start a pool on how many minutes it takes for them to toss you out on your ass. You seriously need to get some help with that race thing you have. I think I'll run down to the Scottish in, in Wichita, get some Irish whiskey, chow down on some English pudding or French Bread, with Polish Sausage or make something in the Dutch oven.
