Kind of a shocker and a bit of sad news to start the evening news cycle . . . Mark Clegg was the anchor dude for this local news org on their journey from worst to first and NOW he's moving on . . . Check the presser:
KSHB-TV ANCHOR MARK CLEGG ANNOUNCES HIS RESIGNATION FROM 41 ACTION NEWS
(Kansas City, Missouri) Longtime KSHB-TV anchor Mark Clegg will sign off the air for the final time on Wednesday, July 23rd. That evening’s 6:00 PM newscast will be his final one in Kansas City. He has accepted a public relations position with Hines, a Houston-based real estate/development company, as Director of Media Relations and Communications. It will be a homecoming for Clegg, who grew up in Texas and started his career there.
“It took a remarkable opportunity to get me to leave the anchor desk and Kansas City. Joining Hines allows me to take my media skills in a whole new direction. It's also a great opportunity to be closer to family in Texas. But I will sincerely miss my Kansas City family - both at 41 Action News and our viewers, whose trust and friendship I have cherished for these past 12 years,” said Clegg.
Clegg joined KSHB in 2002 and has a strong commitment to the Kansas City community. He is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Overland Park and is a member of Church of the Resurrection. He has served on the Board of Directors of Kansas City's Rose Brooks Center – a safe haven for women and children working to break the cycle of domestic violence. He also gives his time to Literacy Kansas City, Higher MPact and the ALS Association - Keith Worthington Chapter, to name a few. Carrie Hofmann, News Director for 41 Action News said, “We are excited for Mark and his new adventure. He has spent the past 12 years dedicated to this station and this community. He will be missed.”

41 seems to be heading in a direction to where they are trying to imitate Fox news. I wouldn't stick around either.
ReplyDeleteHe just announced on the 5pm news.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to work with two drama queens like Gayzak and Dubil I'd probably want to bail out too.
ReplyDeleteJust throw Christa Dubill a bale of hay, she will be right at home with the other cows.
ReplyDeleteHe;s probably trying to get as far away from Jadiann's glass breaking voice as possible.
ReplyDeleteBut... the streetcar is coming!
ReplyDeleteSuggestion to Channel 41.
ReplyDeleteHire Michael Mackey and put him with Christa Dubill.
Name the show Christa the Cow and the Queer.
Another anchor fired because their tits were too small.
ReplyDeleteDiversity is one thing. Lowering standards in another. I can see why a guy would want to crawl out of the cess pool and move on.
ReplyDeleteHim leaving should be no surprise. He's been the odd man out for quite a while, in that he's an actual news reporter who works to know what he's talking about and tries to report some facts.
ReplyDeleteAll the rah rah and fluff on 41 since the bimbos showed up makes what used to be a news broadcast look like a late afternoon version of "The View".
What exactly is the KSHB demographic?
KSHB has had a job posting for a lead co-anchor since I think Feb. Why is anyone surprised?
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone so mean?
Local TV "news" is simply KC Entertainment Tonight. Extremely little news, lots of celebrity nonsense, random non-scientific daily poll (Monday = coffee is bad for you; Tuesday = sedentary people have worse health; Wednesday = germs on your cellphone; Thursday = vitamins are of no benefit; Friday = slow down and take time for yourself; etc.), lots of fires, car chases and natural disasters from around the country, Amber alerts, Silver alerts, WAY TOO much time on weather, and plenty of self-promotion of the news team!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS to Clegg for getting out of the "news business" and into a real business. Good luck.
10:35 FTW!!!
ReplyDeleteWondering why michael mackie was ousted as kc tv live co host? His replacement is a bit too old and Michele seems to always be the one trying to please him. Machine was so gay but enjoyable to watch.
