Looks like the battle compete against Kansas City Congressman Cleaver his heating up and right now Missouri 5th District Candidate Michael Burris is calling out his GOP competition.
New district lines have changed this contest a bit but Congressman Cleaver still seems to have the advantage . . .
Here's a note from the Michael Burris camp calling out Jacob Turk and Bill Lindsey residency . . .
Money quote . . .
We think residency issues in the 5th District Congressional race matter to local voters.
"A quick check by the Michael Burris for Congress campaign revealed that 2 of the 4 Republican candidates for Missouri’s 5th Congressional District don’t even live within the geographic boundaries of the 5th District.
"Jacob Turk and political newcomer Bill Lindsey, both running for the Republican nod in the August 5 primary, actually live within the boundaries of the 6th Congressional District in the city of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
"Michael Burris grew up, works, and lives in Missouri’s 5th District. Burris believes that when it comes to representing 5th district voters, residency matters. “How can you truly represent the interests of district voters if you don’t even live in the district?” Burris asks. “I don’t think anybody likes the idea of having a political outsider come along and ask for your vote.” Burris continued, “It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to separate the political interests of the district in which you reside from the interests of the voters in the district you hope to represent.”
