Here's a brief dose of reality for a group of Kansas City lobbyists who don't really care about anything else in this town but their own hobby.
To wit . . .
TKC EXCLUSIVE AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH REVEALS THAT KANSAS CITY BIKE LANES AND TRAILS ARE REALLY JUST A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!
From our study . . . Here's a weekend look at a local bike line in my hood that hasn't seen much traffic at all"
Nevertheless, lobbying for bikes makes middle-class white people feel a bit less quiet and desperate about their lives.
Here's notice of an upcoming congregation of these folks wasting local cash:
Developers of KC Regional Bikeway Plan seek public input
There's even an interactive Internets tool which is akin to porn for Kansas City cyclists searching for a way to fulfill their need for self-satisfaction . . .
MARC Regional Bikeway Plan WikiMap.
To be fair . . . Kansas City cyclists aren't nearly as bad as toy train streetcar backers and at least they aren't in it to clandestinely chase consulting contracts.
Developing . . .
Hipsters not smart enough to air up their bike tires. They are no threat to traffic. Only themselves.
ReplyDeleteStop it, Tony. Go pick on someone or something who deserves it. Bicycles are not "hipster" transportation. Bicycles are for everyone who puts forth the effort to ride one.
ReplyDeleteBike lanes are much cheaper than streetcars.
ReplyDeleteI ride a bicycle, it is fun, healthy and inexpensive transportation. I even do my grocery shopping on my bicycle in the warm months utilizing saddlebags or a trailer I picked up off Craigslist for bigger shopping trips. I wear high visibility clothes and utilize blinking lights on the front and rear of my bike so that motorists (often distracted by texting, phone calls, etc) are more likely to notice me and not kill me. I try to pick routes that are lower in vehicle traffic when I can, a dedicated bike lane does not exist on my commute to work, though it would not be hard to paint one in, the streets I use are wide enough.
ReplyDeleteMost of the tens of thousands of automobile lanes are also unused in KC. Maybe we can stop building new ones and maintaining existing ones?
ReplyDeleteI don't think the MARC wiki map works anyway. I won't use the streetcar much, but we are getting some pretty cool bike paths in KC North.
ReplyDeleteIf I could have made the link work, I was going to ask them to use the levee in front of KCMO's real Riverfront Park to connect the Chouteau Bridge with the Riverfront Heritage Trail in the River Q
some of them are a good place to get rape raped.
ReplyDeleteBike lanes are still dangerous in KC but they are being used.
ReplyDeleteTrolly Trail ALWAYS has bike traffic.
How much the taxpayers get ripped off for that?
ReplyDeleteThe only bike path we need is the one that leads to Sturgis
ReplyDeleteIs Caleb Michael-Flies using them? Or is he waiting until the train tracks are build in every direction he needs to go?
ReplyDeleteOMG, Tony's readers actually pushing back on the physical specimen, Tony "BMI 42" Botello. Contrary to sitting on your ass and doing nothing but gripe and gain weight, grab a two wheeler and burn off some of those carbs.
ReplyDeleteI know you will miss the opportunity to whine about a marathon, but if you drop a few lbs., maybe you can improve your health.
Then you will undertake a PRODUCTIVE activity.
OMG, who am I talking to?
Fuck off dick satchel! Nobody dumps on Tony Botello until after Midnight!
ReplyDeleteNattering nabob of negativism, thy name is TKC!
ReplyDelete8:01 or maybe you can squeeze some lemon on your tofu. Wear your fake bike clothes and get in my way...
ReplyDeleteI run asshole, but getting off one's ass and doing anything productive is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteWas your post the highlight of the week, 1222?
God Bless The Kansas City Fire Fighters. Our First Line Of Defense!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile...Tonys Johnson county somehow misses the scoop that joco and kansas are spending untold billions for a unneeded project in a mostly unused (like all the other overbuilt joco roads and freeways) highway...
ReplyDeleteBut that doesn't really "fire up the base" of inexplicable ragey white suburban dudes who inhabit this troll-o-Rama.
7:46: Caleb's still using training wheels.
ReplyDelete8:01: No problem with marathons. Big problem with tying up traffic. Have your marathons in Swope Park.
5:48: And yet here you are at the troll-a-Rama, Mensa boy.
Get off the street!
ReplyDeleteget out of your car, you fat, bitch titted, khaki-trousered rube.
ReplyDeleteI am a strong advocate for bike and pedestrian infrastructure.
