TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS EXPOSE THE KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR PHASE DEUX LIGHT RAIL CONSPIRACY?!?!

Right now we have deets on an important bit of info circulating among the more well-informed Kansas City news watchers.

To wit . . .

CHECK THIS FACT CHECK OF KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR PHASE DEUX!!!

This breakdown of the new map offers an important perspective that mainsteam media won't allow . . . Check it:

"What is KC trying to build is not a streetcar line but light rail. So this is why water department funds are being raided. Let’s quit saying every pipe in downtown is from 1874.

The Phase 2 Transportation District is not compact or connected to the purpose. The TDD fails the public benefit test: Taxes many for the benefit few. It is Gerrymandered Taxing District created for the only purpose of providing revenue."

Unfortunately . . . Developing . . .

  2. More or less, Russ Johnson has admitted this. Frankly, at $62M per mile it'd better be high speed dedicated lane rail, or else we're buying the most over priced streetcar in the world.

Remember when Russ Johnson said it could be built for around $15M per mile? Rofl

  3. Expensive Trojan horse for light rail. What a surprise.

  4. Fabricated impotent anonymous internet outrage based on lies. What a surprise.

  5. I want to get offered one of those juicy and fancy property tax breaks like the downtown folks who voted for this boondoggle get on their fancy lofts and condos. Then I'll think about it some more.

  6. I knew that at some point the city would build a tunnel with no light at the end, but runs right up the taxpayers' asses.

  7. The original TDD has never come close to being aboe to generate enough money to acquire, build, operate, and maintain the Main Street line.
All this "expansion" nonsense is nothing more than looking for more money by expanding the TDD area.
And if anyone actually believes these folks when they tell you that the new tax won't be collected unless the feds come up with some money too, you sure haven't been paying attention to this entire scam.
Which shell is the pea under this week?

  9. Sly had better put some daylight between himself and Mensa boy and his band of merry hipsters if he plans on a second term.

  10. All you have to do is read the petition filed in Jackson County Court on 1/27/2014. # 1416-CV02152.
"the design, construction, ownership and/or operation of a fixed rail streetcar and /or light rail system,"
It has always been the city's option, if not true intention, to build light rail not streetcar.

  11. Good.

Also worth noting that brookside votes for light rail on the trolley track trail
time (and the time before that).

63% in favor of light rail on the trail, in the brookside wards in fact...where's your majority now, Suckers Making Assinine Reactionary Tropes KC?

  12. Throwback Saturday

The most recent attempt was in 2008, when Kansas City voters roundly rejected a three-eighths-cent sales tax to finance a 14-mile light-rail starter route.

Councilman Russ Johnson, chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, said that failure was high in the council’s mind in 2009, when it began looking at forming a Transportation Development District, which could generate money for a rail project but keep the voter-approval threshold low.

    Hint hint

    Mr. Tony,
    Asking ain't getting.
This council is asking for too much. New light rail, new airport and getting rid of city departments to pay for all the new toys. 2nd and 4th districts will surely vote no.... But then again these districts voted Mayor Sly into office.
Russ Johnson is one bothersome little dude. I will be quite happy to see him finally leave city hall in two years time.
    !
    !
One other thing.... You, Mr. Tony, continue to support Little Crispin. Why? The story following this one is part of Crispin's body of work. As is the huge screw up he created regarding the Westport High school vote. The Star did report on the f-up. Crispin just isn't ready to be a council member.

    ReplyDelete
  14. With his arrogance, immaturity, lack of experience, and no management skills, Crispin isn't ready for much of anything.
But he IS ready for the KCMO city council.
None of those attributes are needed, as shown by the parade of clowns through those offices year after year.
Any serious professional person would be driven nuts trying to work with these people.

  15. 4th district will pass the TDD and streetcar tax (if the TDD passes) by over 60 percent.

    ReplyDelete
  16. According to the Star, Crispin voted "yes" on selling Westport High. Is this not the case?

    ReplyDelete
  17. The first quote from TKC maybe the dumbest yet from the opposition...and that is saying a lot. I am impressed how two sentences can be so wrong and such utter nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think the TDD has a shot at winning the 4th District. I believe it will lose all of the other districts. They've gotta hope for a strong turnout from 4th district.

  19. The TDD will be turned down. There will be no TDD. No sales tax increase, no assessment.
Kansas City has not made their case, in fact, they have proven it is a lost cause, this TDD, streetcar situation. The Department of Transportation has already funded other streetcar lines and are out of funding. The City is wasting your time and your money and they KNOW it. To be continued.
