TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS WORST WEEK EVAR!!!! AFTERMATH: SOUTHWEST COULD SHUT DOWN AND SCHOOL BOARD MIGHT 'DESERVE' MISSOURI TAKEOVER!!!

These are desperate times for Kansas City Public Schools.

Let's not kid around . . .

AMID HORRIFIC SOUTHWEST CAMPUS RAPE CHARGES AND THE WESTPORT RE-VOTE REAL ESTATE HOT MESS . . . ONCE AGAIN THERE SEEMS TO BE VERY LITTLE CONFIDENCE IN KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS!!!

Here's the rundown . . .

Obviously, another rape report @ The Southwest Campus seems have shocked this city into action . . .

The Blaze: Six Employees Suspended Amid Horrific Rape Allegations at Missouri School

But let's not forget that Southwest has been in trouble since "right-sizing" that consolidated the KCPS and brought a new "element" to Southwest that simply destroyed the school. Arson threats, fighting and now rape are a result of a plan that has backfired.

And now . . .

TKC EXCLUSIVE: IN A CANDID DISCUSSION TO FIND A SOLUTION TO SEXUAL ASSAULT THAT ENDANGERS "SCHOLARS" . . . TALK OF SHUTTING DOWN THE SOUTHWEST CAMPUS IS NOW ON THE TABLE!!!

A few supporting arguments . . .

- The Top floor of Southwest is abandoned already . . . Experts say the building is simply TOO BIG to offer any kind of realistic expectation of safety for all students as recent events have proven.

- Think about this . . . Neighbors aren't jazzed about having teen arsonists, street fighters and sexual predators trekking trough their neighborhood . . . Now this talking point has more gravitas given recent tragic circumstances.

- So many well-documented safety concerns now put the district on the hook IF/WHEN, God forbid, more students are hurt. Liability could be the greatest motivator for real KCPS change.

And here's the really sad part . . . Rape of an autistic girl is just the beginning of KCPS problems . . .

THE WESTPORT NO-SALE VOTE HAS ENRAGED DENIZENS THROUGHOUT MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY!!!

Remember that earlier this week our TKC BLOG COMMUNITY brought word of this grassroots effort to encourage a re-vote on the sale of Westport High . . .

Now . . . An explanation of School Board voting on this topic simply defies logic according to even the most causal observer:

KC school board member says they were told charter was no longer interested in Westport High

DOING OUR VERY BEST MAURICE CHEVALIER IMPRESSION WE MUST SAY:

"AU CONTRAIRE MONSIEURS JACKSON ET AIRICK WEST!!!"

(TKC NOTE: That's funny for a lot of reasons that start with our second favorite Frenchman next to Sporting KC footballer Aurélien Collin and then of course the dead French language component in all of this . . . )

Fact Check: Academie Lafayette board President Dave Cozad said, “Yes, we’re still interested.”

Accordingly . . .

NOW THAT THERE IS AN EDUCATION COMPONENT OF THE WESTPORT SALE . . . WHAT WILL KCPS HONCHOS JOE JACKSON AND AIRICK L. WEST USE AS THEIR EXCUSE NEXT TIME AROUND?!?!

Of course . . . There's no comment on this . . .

Behind the scenes, Insiders claim that part of the real estate hot mess relates to School Board Member Joe Jackson's panicked reelection campaign and Airick West's constant "up-with-the-people" routine that can get frustrating after awhile.

Doesn't really matter . . . Clearly, the Westport decision has alienated voters and residents and holds very little upside.

One insider notes . . .

"It's a shame they have been wasting so much time with this when they should have been working to keep students save @ Southwest."

Furthermore . . . This observation is circulating far and wide:

"Recent events @ The KCPS maybe confirm that Missouri Education Commish Nicastro and so many others might be right . . . Maybe the Board isn't capable of governing our schools. Maybe the KCPS might deserve to have control taken away???"

Don't expect an answer on that one . . . But, in the final analysis, there's no doubt that constant talk of progress for Kansas City Public Schools is now more suspect than ever as safety and basic management skills of the school board and administrators face some VERY SERIOUS questions, challenges and decisions in the near future . . .
