TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! CHECK THE CITY HALL NOTE REQUESTING KANSAS CITY TO SPAIN STREETCAR TOY TRAIN JUNKET!!!
A Spanish junket from Kansas City to Spain starting at City Hall is big news that KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS reported last week.
And now . . .
THANKS TO KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS: CHECK OUT THE DOCUMENT THAT PROVES THIS BIT OF CITY HALL LUXURY TRAVEL IN THE PLANNING STAGES AT CITY HALL!!!
This vacay is a bold step for local government amid budget austerity . . . Also, Mayor Sly and the City Council made a big deal of the "Urbos" manufactured in Elmira, New York but nobody from City Hall seems willing to plan any excursions to that frozen part of the nation any time soon.
FIRST, TAKE A LOOK AT THE TEXT . . .
I am requesting approval to travel to Madrid, Spain to tour the CAF Inc. facilities and attend several workshops detailing the Streetcar that will be manufactured for Kansas City. These workshops will give me a better understanding of how CAF's work in Spain will mirror our current and future streetcar here in Kansas City.
We will spend an intensive week meeting with CAF at its main office in Beassain, Spain and also at its facilities in Zaragoza and San Sebastiain, Guided tours of the trucks and wheel manufacturing worships will allow staff to see the manufacturing process up close.
We have worked with our counterparts at CAF Inc, to make the travel arrangements. The trip is scheduled from Saturday, Feb 1, 2014 to Saturday, Feb. 9, 2014
The total cost of the trip is estimated to be $2,534. Please see breakdown below at attached documents detailing all the costs associated with the trip.

And now . . .
HERE'S THE DOCUMENT THAT PROVES A RATHER DESPICABLE KANSAS CITY TO SPAIN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR JUNKET!!!
CLICK THE IMAGE OR THIS LINK TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE DOCUMENT FOR YOURSELF!!!
Once again, this is evidence that City Hall isn't minding the purse strings of the toy train streetcar that's quickly going off-track and chugging along with a lot of unacceptable expenses.
Expect even better newshounds to go with this story and we'll link it all . . .
Developing . . .
I am sorry for doubting you. Looking forward to better newshounds picking up the story too.
ReplyDeleteCK = Wasting cash.
ReplyDeletePig disgusting
ReplyDeleteIt says WE but the $2534.00 cost is for one person. And how does "Guided tours of the trucks and wheel manufacturing worships will allow staff to see the manufacturing process up close" benefit the city unless we are going to build our own. Building and repairing are different. Force them to go to Elmira as punishment for trying to sneak this one by.
ReplyDeleteThat's ridiculous. Total waste of money. All the info needed can be found online.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be -2 tomorrow in Elmira, NY.
ReplyDeleteI'll kick in $20 to send them there this month.
absolutely ridiculous. No way this expense should ever be approved.
ReplyDeleteFunk Wins.
ReplyDeleteI do travel to Europe on a semi-regular basis and can tell you that $2500 is not an excessive cost. In fact, I can't do that well on my own nickel.
ReplyDeleteNow before you all get the blades out, I am not commenting on the value of the trip. I am mixed on the streetcar, but recognize this is going to happen and I really try to avoid piling on to argue against everything, including the color of the cars, because I don't fully support the project.
I would excourage any of you to proce a 5 day trip to New York of Boston and you will get to 2K very fast.
I hope the "cum on my tits guy" doesn't real end for trying to be objective.
Fun try, but I can declare you City Manager for life with a PDF letterhead and Photoshop.
ReplyDeleteFor someone with serious fact/verification issues, this is a hilarious last minute stab at legitimacy.
So, there is always more and it is always worse.
get over it dude, the document is real and ck is screwed.
ReplyDeleteIf you were going to spend $20 million on streetcars, you'd probably want to see them first hand, too. #eyeroll #nonstory #fauxoutrage"

No surprise someone like David Johnson who's been living on other people's money his whole life is defending how CK is pissing more money away on tax-payer-funded vacations to the Biscane coast of Spain.
I don;t think airlines charge baggage fees on international flights.
ReplyDeleteThis is a commonn scam from a very corrupt city.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to take this opportunity to invite all those who voted in favor of the etax to take a few moments to kindly go and fuck themselves.
ReplyDeleteYou gave them the message that wasteful spending would go on as business as usual in KC.
Really great foresight.
wait till the 'E' tax comes up for another vote in a few years, than the city will really be screwed.
ReplyDeleteNice try 5:43.
ReplyDeleteThis is a legitimate memo. The cost stated is per person, but two people are slated to go.
Again, it's not the AMOUNT, it's the ATTITUDE!
What can the Public Works director and an engineer learn in Spain that they can't learn in Elmira? Since we are contracting the streetcar service and maintenance out, will we be sending the contractors on a junket to Spain as well?
why don't we just build a bridge to Portugal? It would make as much sense as this dumb plan.
ReplyDeleteSherri McIntyre, Ralph David, AND Troy Schulte should be FIRED.
ReplyDeleteI assume this cost goes into the streetcar expenditures. Does anyone know how much has been spent to date or is it classified information, not for taxpayer's ears?
ReplyDeleteWith all the contracts given to consultants and engineers, why does this guy need to go at tax payer expense?
ReplyDeleteCity engineer? Maybe he needs to find junket on how to repair our infrastructure?
ReplyDeleteMarvin Pontiac is dead on the money.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fuckin load of shit.
I am at Starbucks and I just spit out my coffee when I read that memo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a crock that they believe they can get away with this garbage?
I know there are some merits to the streetcar but this kind of abuse is really bad for our city and some of us who have done real work to push forward better transit options for KC.
Put a stop to this mess Mayor James. We owe it to the voters.
CK = Crooked Kash, Money
ReplyDelete7:11, Ralph isn't qualified to be city engineer. But he is a good ass kisser. The director of PW felt threatened by the previous city engineer and stripped him of staff and duties.
ReplyDeleteJust take the money for the trip out of PIAC...we're using that fund for every other fool thing.
ReplyDeleteFuck this toy train! Fix our god-damned schools and roads FIRST! Fucking idiots down at City Hall....
ReplyDeleteWhat a travesty this city has become, can't we find a real leader who will do better?
ReplyDeleteIs your tipster someone mad he isn't getting to go?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the tipster is mad that SHE can't go?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fucking joke. These city hall types whine about overtime for police, fire, water departments. Then waste it on shit like this? If this is such a big contract why isn't the manufacturer paying the tab?
ReplyDeleteReal good job on voting to extend the etax, you rube dipshit motherfuckers.
ReplyDeleteWas it the bulk mailing flyers with the flatlining EKG that really scared you into voting to continue the tax....which gave them carte blanch to continue wasting money?
Because I'm really trying to understand how you could have been so fucking stupid. You had a chance to send a message and you sent one alright...that one being, 'continue to bend me over my granite countertops and assfuck me because I really enjoy watching you work in the toaster's reflection.'
I may have mentioned it before, but if I have, it is worth repeating, Marvin Pontiac is dead on the momey.
ReplyDeleteTrue dat marvin said it right
ReplyDeletePlease get someone from local TV news to cover this to raise public outrage and stop this waste. It is not like we are going to manufacture our streetcars. And this raises the question of why KC couldn't buy local, regionally or at least within the U.S. (How will we achieve the promised economic development if dollars go overseas?)
ReplyDeleteWhat is the email or phone for city hall? Let's stop this junket.
I want my 1% back.
ReplyDeleteADDENDUM TO ORIGINAL REQUEST:
ReplyDeleteI am also requesting approval of travel funds for my visit to the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas so that I may develop a better understanding of how my diseased brain causes me to do such stupid things.
9:08 PM nailed it. How many millions are we wasting on this foolish project and the fucking vendor won't fly "our" management team in to view the product FOR FREE? This city government is a hapless pile of shit ... and that's the half of it.
ReplyDeleteWho pays for the passport?
ReplyDeletewe need to throw every dam one out of office and start new with some honest people if there is any
ReplyDeleteWe could build this toy train in KC! Who is getting KICKBACKS (bribes) for buying this from SPAIN???!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a good start, now get the travel expenses of Russ Johnson and his trips to Germany, England and other places to look at street cars and airports!
ReplyDelete8:55 pm, SHE can't go, it would be too expensive. They'd have to buy two airplane seats to accommodate her enormous girth.
ReplyDeleteWill somrone please dedicate the 3 Dog Night song "Never Been To Spain" to this?
