Once again in 2013, a crowded local intersection is reminded of Kansas City's longstanding homicide problem.

Sadly, this is becoming an ongoing tradition in Kansas City because we haven't made much progress in curbing the number of killings in this wicked little town.
In fact . . .
THERE ARE MORE HOMICIDES IN KANSAS CITY RIGHT NOW THAN AT THIS TIME LAST YEAR!!!
Currently, KCMO stands @ 103 murders recorded so far this year compared to 101 at this time last year.

KANSAS CITY MURDER CROSSES
"As a stark reminder of the brokenness of our city we have placed a cross on our lawn with the name and date of the killing of each victim of murder in our city in 2013.
"While people are enjoying parties, pageants and programs this season there are hundreds of family members who are enduring their first Christmas without their murdered loved one. We desire to do what followers of Jesus should do with those who have suffered loss, we weep with those who weep and embrace them with love and compassion.
"We must stand up and make it clear that we will never accept 100 plus murders a year in our city as normal. The media can not be allowed to ignore the brutal violence in our city. The city leaders must be made aware that this level of murder will not be accepted as the new normal. The reasons for murder are varied and complex. This problem can not be solved by simply passing legislation that plays to one political base or another. The complex problems that lead to an epidemic of murder have to be dealt with from a broad base of community, civic, religious, government leaders and everyday people. But it begins by refusing to accept the status qua.

ReplyDeleteVisuals like this should be a gut check for everyone. Until this past year, that is all they had ever been to me, too. This year, though, a close friend of my son's was murdered in a home invasion. Senseless...over a few smart phones and some cash.
ReplyDeleteUntil we start seeing citizens come forward to give up these monsters, this will continue. We are too far gone for stricter gun laws. People need to quit being such chicken shits and turn in these pieces of shit who do this.
Too bad that the police and government of Kansas City can't seem to find their ass with both hands and find a way to stop this crap....

Whites don't do this shit with NEARLY the frequency that the black culture does, and I know this because I worked about a bajillion homicides and shootings as a cop for nearly a decade, and it was in an area that was predominantly white.

Great story out of Pittsburgh about a shoe shine guy who has been giving his tips to the local children's hospital for the past 12 years. Total amount is over $200,000. Guy takes a one hour bust ride each way to the hospital.

Most of the city's elite wants to ignore the crime issue--so I am glad for anyone who will focus attention on this problem. Memo to the KCMO Chamber of Commerce: Ever notice how no one schedules conventions in Detroit? No, it is not because people don't like the Lions or the Tigers. It is because in Detroit it takes 58 minutes for the cops to respond to a 911 call. All of you guys plans for urban renewal will come to nothing if the city's crime problem is not brought under control.
