Just a quick bit of good news to finish off the night . . .
This week Kansas City MO House Rep. Brandon Ellington hosted a local celebrity basketball game in order to raise funds and supplies to feed the homeless this winter.
Last year the event raised enough to feed 1,500 homeless for Thanksgiving with additional resources sent to over 1000 for Christmas.
Rep. Ellington: "In Kansas City we have a significant homeless population that is often under-served. The inspiration for this event was to not only raise awareness of the issue but also involve our community in order to address the growing needs of the homeless which include families, children and veterans."
We'll have more on the event and the aftermath but here's a quick look for right now . . .
Northeast Kansas City Rep. John Rizzo joined the charity basketball game for the second year in a row.
From what we hear the game was pretty intense and we'll have more photos of the competiton.
T-shirts for players and to help the homeless included an AWESOME design as this event organized by Rep. Ellington becomes a holiday tradition.
