So, it turns out TKC was completely right about criticizing Hall family privilege earlier this year when we noted that this 1% clan gets a lot more love than all of the cowtown homicide victims put together.
To wit . . .
THIS WEEK KANSAS CITY STARTED TO HATE THE HALL FAMILY AFTER A SOMEWHAT STINGY AND INDECENT PROPOSAL THAT USED A RANSOM ON A DONATION TO CHILDREN'S MERCY AS A POLITICAL GAMBIT TO PASS THE JACKSON COUNTY HEALTH RESEARCH TAX!!!
Hall Family Foundation $75 Million Pledge: Passion For Cause...Or Bribe?
Again, it's not opinion but fact that this ploy went over like a lead balloon.
Kansas City Political Consultants Steve Glorioso and Pat O'Neill are the most high profile names associated with the Jackson County tax campaign and it's hard to believe their veteran advice would have let this one pass.
Still . . .
IT'S REASSURING THAT KANSAS CITY WAS PRETTY MUCH DISGUSTED AT THE HALL FAMILY FOUNDATION USING SICK KIDS AS A POLITICAL BARGAINING CHIP!!!
Of course political pundits gave the Hall's a pass on the slight chance that they may get to kiss their ring one of these days at a cocktail party . . . And this might be overlooked in all the other stuff that happened this week:
Top Stories Of The Week
Still, Hall Family hateration and Kansas City pushback against the 1% was a welcomed sign that the ongoing Great Recession has FINALLY started to chip away at this town's pathological politeness.
Developing . . .
They're still rich. So shut it.
ReplyDeleteThat fucking Glorioso is so god-damned stupid, he'd miss a pop fly to center. What a dumbass!
ReplyDeleteSteve Glorioso and Pat O'Neill are part of the problem. Gaming the suckers of KCMO for every penny they can suck up their snouts.
ReplyDeleteGlorioso's wife is Water Services Director's Liaison at City of Kansas City, MO.
ReplyDeleteNice cushy job, no audits........
Mrs. Glorioso just happens to be vacationing in Oaxaca Mexico this week. So STF up losers!
ReplyDeleteAh our tax dollars hard at work down on the Hacienda. Must be nice.
ReplyDeleteYes she looks relaxed on her FB page. Far away and a safe distance from the KC Riff Raff.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Steve G told the State you not auditing the water department man stay the fuck out a here man this is my city man!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFBI? Hello?
ReplyDeleteThem Childrens Mercy Exec's live pretty high on the hog for a so called non profit operation.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Pat? That guy rides the same gravy train. He is working Mr. Nutter's pot o'gold too in both the county and city. Don't be racist. Share the love!
ReplyDeleteOur very own Pat O'Neill? He the guy who dresses Sly up in all those goofy looking outfits for all the Photo Ops?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mrs.G feels safer down there south of the border then on her own Plaza. With all those roaming mobs of kids and stuff.
ReplyDeleteThis tax vote is all part of the master plan. We must comrades in order to achieve the revolution, excuse me wrong word, the transformation of America envisioned by our Dear Leader Comrade Obama, turn the proletariat against the Grand Bourgeoisie and make them hate the upper class who exploits them, so much so that they reach the point they will turn against them and we will finally achieve the American Utopia.
ReplyDeleteI don't care about the personal gossip. I just care that there are too many taxes. This will be too much and will stifle the economy.
ReplyDeleteSigned,
No Ransom In Brookside
If I understand this issue, the Hall family has pledged a grant of $75 million for research to Children’s Mercy Hospital but only on the condition that this sales tax addition is approved. These are probably the same people who would be horrified if Bashar al-Assad used children as human shields if the United States were to attack Syria but the Hall Family thinks nothing of wanting to hold sick children as hostages to pass this task. What is the difference between the Assad Family and the Hall Family? That is not a joke but serious question.
ReplyDeleteHere is another thing to consider: additional sales taxes does not hurt people like the Halls but does hurt working people but then again, we all know that the Halls and the Kempers don't give a shit about working people as long as they pay their taxes and vote for their pet issues that helps out their other rich friends like the one terminal airport or the toy train.
And then, Crosby “Fucking” Kemper the turd wants to hold a breakfast seminar called Is It Time To Leave Kansas City? Between higher taxes, more crimes and the fucking idiots like the inbred rich families like the Kemper and the Halls and the Dunns as well as the clowns at City Hall leading the city, the answer to that question Crosby is HELL YES!
I think y'all protest too much, and certainly show your resentment towards the cities' wealthy and what they do with their money.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone say Halls' reasoning about linking their donation to the passage of a sales tax? I never heard it. It should have been in Tony's story... but we know all about his resentments towards the establishment.
halls scammed the city into moving the ol' strassenfest
ReplyDeletefrom Riverfront to Crown center -- killing off a fun, no- hassle 'beer-food' outing.
Still can not believe the Halls did such a thing. I will make sure card does not say Hallmark on the back before I buy it. Join me.
ReplyDeleteHow dare you peasants question the rich. Shut up and pay your taxes.
ReplyDeleteHallmark was already dying off, Crown Center not profitable and now the Hall Foundation just put the nail in. Maybe the Mr is missing the Mrs so much he list his business sense because this was a giant misstep.
ReplyDeleteDon't know who you are 1:12 and furthermore, don't care. You're a stupid fucker, who takes shots at people who are so much more than your pathetic existence. Maybe your ass will grow shut and you can multiply your kind. Good luck with that.
ReplyDeleteAgain, nice job Eric Blair.
ReplyDeleteAgain, nice job Tony.
1:57, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the motive behind the Hall's strings-attached pledge. It is a bribe to the voters and to the paid lackeys running the campaign: get the tax passed and we'll cut loose of the cash. It costs the Halls nothing to pledge the funds with conditions.
ReplyDeleteIf there were true generosity behind the Halls toward Children's Mercy, they would give the gift with no strings attached.
Eric Blair for the win. That's one of the best comments I've read on this dump of a blog all week.
ReplyDeleteNicely done.
Also, rich people get tax write-offs for charity. This would increase taxes on the normal folks so the Halls can get a tax break. I really dont think its overstepping any bounds to complain about this type of behavior. It would be disgraceful if your friends did it, just because the Halls are rich doesnt mean their shit smells like flowers.
ReplyDeleteUndoubtedly, we hate them for meddling. They should stick to birthday cards and stay out of politics. Put that in a Hallmark card!
