At the end of another disappointing season for the Kansas City Royals, mainstream media is propagating the same lie that they've told for more than a generation and it needs to stop if this town's baseball team ever wants to make any real progress.
To wit . . .
BLIND HOPE FOR THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS "NEXT SEASON" IS NOTHING MORE THAN LOSER TALK AND A SHAMEFUL CORPORATE MARKETING SCHEME!!!
Furthermore . . .
THE REALITY IS THAT THE ROYALS DIDN'T REALLY IMPROVE THAT MUCH THIS YEAR AND THE TEAM REMAINS MEDIOCRE AND OVER-HYPED!!!
Supporting facts . . .
- A BARELY winning season is the only shred of hope that fanboys cling to . . . And it's pathetic given that big, better cities settle for nothing less. Celebration of this insignificant achievement only encourages mediocrity given that most of those wins were in noncompetitive games and added up to NOTHING.
- Now, following an annual "moneyball" tradition . . . The players who did stand out this season will soon LEAVE KANSAS CITY IN THE DUST and move to better markets with more competitive pay. Kansas City fanboys would really lament the impending trade of Ervin Santana if they weren't too busy looking for another great white hope.
- Only the bravest sports newsies mention that an exceptionally week division and AL League decline overall is what most likely led to the illusion of Kansas City Royals success.
And so . . .
THE COMMON KANSAS CITY REFRAIN THAT "WE'LL GET'EM NEXT SEASON" IS ONLY SOMETHING THAT LOSERS SAY!!!
Sadly, that catchphrase dominates sports talk in Kansas City and is once again being repeated for baseball fan suckers after another season without any significant improvement and only the illusion of progress.

Tony is very right on this story.
ReplyDeleteBut then what would one expect from a city whose residents have voted the type of idiots into office that is currently running the city.
Every so often a small market team does better than expected. Then people think the experiment can be repeated in the long run.
ReplyDeleteYeah, having their best record in 20 years, with one of the youngest tems in baseball, is absolutely a dismal failure. Tony, you might have an interesting blog on local political issues, but as a person you are a fucking low-life loser who gets his rocks off disrespecting pretty much everything and everyone. What a fucking joke you are.
ReplyDeleteFuck You 9:54, you failed.
ReplyDeleteGood one 10:08. Do you know any words with more than one syllable? An obvious mensa member, you are.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that TKC would consider most of what 9:54 wrote as a compliment.
ReplyDeletejust sayin'
954, 1014, 1023.......all very true.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is a vehicle for haters to gripe in an anonymous manner.
If they spewed their attitude openly, they would be fat, unemployed, and without a girlfriend.
Kind of like Tony.
Actually, exactly like Tony.
Guys...just repeat to yourself.
ReplyDeleteTony is Messican. Messicans' don't know shit about baseball other then the Dodgers and Yankees.
Tony is Messican. I never meet a Messican who wasn't a Raiders fan.
The Royals had a great season. Only losers like Tony think otherwise.
Messicans suck in sports that are not soccer and bull fighting.
This is, in essence, TKC's shtick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrZWG1RWIbQ
ReplyDeleteTony,
ReplyDeleteYou have finally brought up something relevant about the Royals. In the next few seasons we will be watching the Royals in the World Series... The only issue is that they will be wearing another team's uniform. Either way it was nice watching the team win a few this year.
Royals have always been about hype but so is every other team. The difference in KC is that the media doesn't even question it and does nothing but accept the team's pronouncements has fact.
ReplyDeleteIt's a game, you moron.
ReplyDelete9:54 see 11:28
ReplyDeleteHaven't kept up with them in awhile.
ReplyDeleteLove mike Sweeney though
Hilarious. "we'll get 'em next year" The lies must stop... laughing my ass off.
ReplyDeleteEat shit and die
ReplyDeleteThis blog just needs to stay off the topic of sports.
