A recent dust-up about a KC Museum Board re-vote because of an open meetings law is just a peek @ Council Dude Jim Glover's handiwork in action.
Insiders tell us . . .
COUNCIL DUDE JIM GLOVER HAS THE KC MUSEUM ADVISORY BOARD SO SCARED THAT MEMBERS ARE MAKING SURE THEY HAVE LEGAL PROTECTION FOR THEIR ACTIONS!!!
It turns out they do. Appointees to boards and commissions are protected by City Hall's legal defense fund when acting in their official capacity.
SO, COUNCIL DUDE JIM GLOVER IS REALLY JUST MAKING EMPTY THREATS ABOUT OPEN MEETINGS IN DEFENSE OF HIS HOMIE GEORGE AND UNION STATION RIGHTS OVER KC MUSEUM ARTIFACTS!!!
And seriously, all of this fighting over Kansas City historical relics remind me of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

He seemed like a nice enough guy, I wasn't really paying attention because I was screwing around with my phone and in the middle of a post or maybe ordering a pizza. I forget. Anyhoo . . . He said something to the effect of . . . "Tony, all your life has been spent in pursuit of archaeological relics. Inside the KC MUSEUM are treasures beyond your wildest aspirations. You want to see them as well as I. TKC, we are simply passing through history. THIS ... [gesturing to the KC MUSEUM] This is history. Do as you will."
And so the KC Museum Advisory Board Vs. Union Station fight continues as COUNCIL DUDE JIM GLOVER gets in the corner of his pal George Guastello.

Cm Glover inherited Northeast when council lines were redrawn, and he has no interest in what this neighborhood needs or wants. He's perfectly content to waste $2M from PIAC to study streetcar on Independence Avenue. I'll bet $2M is KCATA's budget to run route 24 for five years. Now this ass hat wants to throw the KC Museum under the bus?

ReplyDeleteWill Royster was the former Museum Advisory Board Commissioner who got the City to make the Museum Advisory Board an actual City Commission, and he got the meetings moved from the basement of the Museum into City Hall.
ReplyDeleteHe met with Michael Haverty and Deb Herman to keep the mil levy from being taken away and "shared" with other "museums", and he also did a lot to keep the tax money from being stolen by Union Station.
Royster knew about all the corruption at Union Station starting prior to 2006, and he advised the City Council to file a lawsuit against Union Station. That put him at odds with all the Union Station crooks, who tried to get him kicked off the MAB.
City Council didn't take any legal action, but it compromised with Union Station, instead; and Royster's term expired when the new mayor took over. Sly didn't re-appoint Royster to MAB.
