Kansas City music fans will appreciate the new tracks from Reach - The poet laureate of Kansas City's hip-hop scene.
TAKE A LISTEN TO "LOOSIES" FROM LOCAL HIP-HOP ARTIST REACH!!!
As usual, this is a masterful collection of hip-hop influenced by jazz, early east-coast rap and neo-soul.
Reach has always shown more skill, technique and style than most Kansas City rappers and he didn't need his dad to become the Mayor to launch his hip-hop career. Instead, Reach has created a nuanced and eclectic body of work that represents some of the best music created in Kansas City for the better part of a decade.
I won't listen to the morally bankrupt rantings promoted by the hip-hop culture- even if dude is a local.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that is really inovative, it changes everything. The musical equivalent of "Magical Mystery Tour".
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony!!
Jesus fuckin Christ what fuckin dreck.
Chuck . . . Absolutely wrong. I really doubt you bothered to listen. Reach's lyrics are inspiring, his skill in putting together tracks is impressive and he really is an innovative artist with an intense work ethic. Seriously can't believe you would listen to all of those tracks and come to the same judgement you cast on all of hip-hop.
ReplyDeleteReach does have a great deal of talent and is a step above the rest when it comes to the music that influences his style.
Normally, I don't care to disagree with anybody in the comments but I really do think it's IMPOSSIBLE for anybody to take a listen to any series of tracks from REACH and not realize that he really is one of the best musical artists in Kansas City.
Reach is a solid writer. Hope to see other musicians get behind him on the tracks.

ReplyDeleteNope, I listened to it.
We will have to dissagree.
The use of the word "Nuance" in your comment on this music is, to me, hilarious.
But, hey, it is just my opinion.
More nigger noise. Useless, vile, nigger noise.
ReplyDeleteA couple of things, Tony:
ReplyDelete1. Rap and Hip Hop is not music. You don't have to be an actual musician to perform rap music. So really, stop calling this garbage 'music' and quit calling rap 'artists' musicians. This doesn't qualify as 'music' You calling those recordings "music" is hilarious, and it shows your lack of any taste. You're also guilty of calling DJ's 'musicians' too. Wrong.
2. I listened to that garbage. I heard no singing. I heard no lyrics. I did hear ghetto poetry. There are no 'lyrics' in rap music, Tony. It's bad poetry set to techno-forever-drum loops that were created by probably some white guy. Don't call it a lyric when there's nothing sung / no melody. Songs are made from melodies, not drum beats. (Even "Wipe Out" had a melody!)

Really? You need to get out of the basement and see (hear) the world, amateur. Stay out of and away from the music business in any way, shape, or form, ok? In spite of the nice things you occasionally say about Jazz, generally you're perceived as incredibly ignorant to real musicians that are reading your blog.
Taste in music, women and food just to name a few things, is indeed totally subjective, but I gotta tell ya, Hip/Hop and Rap "Music" has violent and pernicious connotations that are well deserved and played out in our streets every day of every year.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, I hear metronomic perucssion in conjuntion with repetative and predictable lyrics on most of this stuff.
Once again, my opinion is no better or worse than anyone else's, it is just my opinion and like most of us out here, it doesn't count for much.
Taking the blindfold test and it sounds like all the rest of the noise.
ReplyDeleteIf turds made noise they would sound like this.
ReplyDeleteReach is a solid writer, but his lyrics are preachy and dull. All in all overall hes pretty lame.... I support local mc's I got a cd from him at a show, listened to it and threw it out the window. It sounded like my dad backpack rapping to me, nothing fun about it at all.
ReplyDeleteReach should do a duet with Stretch!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is comedy, my friend.
ReplyDeleteSo your saying Reach is getting older now and has passed his creative peak and this is the best you will see out of him
ReplyDeleteIt's "you're" and NO.
