Did The KCPT 'Shots Fired' Special Stop Kansas City Gun Violence?!?!?

This week Kansas City Public Television offered their take on the constant rate of killing via firearms in this wicked little town.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE KCPT "SHOTS FIRED" SPECIAL!!!

As always, it's important and a worthy project whenever local media decide to talk about Kansas City's most important problem - The constant and disproportionate rate of local homicide.

However . . .

REVIEWS OF THE KCPT SHOTS FIRED SPECIAL HAVE BEEN HARSH!!!

Just a few examples . . .

Kansas City anti-crime activist Alonzo Washington calls out the program via social media:

Another Eastside Insider chides:

"I watched it for a little while, it's the same old dog and pony show. It really wasn't worth sitting through the whole program if everyone is just going to say the same thing."

Meanwhile, a Northland Denizen remarks:

"Aim4Peace hasn't done much but rack up an impressive catering budget. It's time to get rid of this program and the last thing I wanted to see was KCPT turn into a promotional vehicle for it."

The background on this program is that KCPT Producer Nick Haines had been working on it for nearly a year and hoped to feature some of the more controversial Kansas City anti-violence advocates . . . It's not a stretch to suggest that higher-ups @ KCPT wanted a more scaled down approach and decided that traditional anti-violence groups were more appropriate for the public television audience.
