Did The Chamber Fix The Troost Corridor Yet?

The Greater KC Chamber's "Big 5" has been a big deal inasmuch as its the only urban revitalization effort with major backing AND not completely focused on improving the lives of Downtown hipsters in crappy coffee shops.

Here's the latest . . .

KC Biz Journal offers this introduction to the lawyer who may prove to be the Savior of Troost: "Scott Hall is leaving behind his role as an attorney with Lewis Rice & Fingersh LC to step into a newly created role with the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. The position, vice president for strategic initiatives, was created solely to help the Chamber execute its Big 5 initiatives."

For more info and a slightly more upbeat take . . . Check the chamber's site: www.big5kc.com

  1. There are still niggers all over that corridor, so have they "fixed it" yet? I think not.

  2. Any "initiative" involving the Chamber always include a tax increase. They are already planning the next one after the Jackson County tax increase.

Attorney's know absolutely nothing about land development or initiatives. This is nothing more than a "friends helping friends" free for all. Pathetic.

  4. No amount of taxes could fix Troost. First you'd have to pay to relocate all the parasites that live there, then bulldoze everything away and start over. Even then, people wouldn't want to go near it. A better idea would be a Troost wall which required a background check to cross.

  5. Troost from 49th to 55th isn't so bad. Rockhurst is there, plenty of students live East of Troost in this area, young white families are finding large, affordable homes, the gays are settling there too. It has changed, but the stigma of Troost remains.

What needs to happen is the artists need to figure out that they can live for way less in this area than they can in the Crossroads and then things will really turn around for the better.

  6. Not enough artists, too many thugs. Gentrification only helps a small area, the thugs just move somewhere else and trash. Get rid of the crime otherwise iits just musical chairs.

  7. How, say how did Troost get so fucked up?? Any quick guesses? Well, it was niggers! What they don't tear up, they shit on. Those are the parasites that are eating KC from within... Kinda like termites, don't you think?

  8. Another KCMO lawyer with "strategic initiatives".

    Great, just what KCMO needs.

  10. This is a pie-in-the-sky dream. Simply put, whereve there are black people there is crime and poverty. They make paint peel and grass die. If you think you can revitalize Troost and have it mostly black, you are lying to yourself. I've asked before and I'll ask again. Where in the world is the population black and the area is nice? It doesn't exist.

  11. Where's Dianne Cleaver?!!

  12. 8:17 there were and still are areas in some big cities with safe upscale black neighborhoods. But it will never happen in KCMO or Jackson County because of how poorly the criminal justice system is.
