TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! CITY COUNCIL PLAYS BABYSITTER & PUSHES KANSAS CITY ORDINANCE AGAINST CYBER-BULLYING!!!
It's almost back-to-school time but not until Kansas City Mayor Sly and Council offer one more ordinance to help babysit local youngsters.
To wit . . .
CHECK OUT A NEW KANSAS CITY ORDINANCE AGAINST BULLING AND CYBER-BULLYING AIMED AT MINORS AND THEIR GUARDIANS!!!
Ordinance #130569: Amending and adding a new section to Chapter 50, Code of Ordinances, by adding a new Section 50-244 prohibiting the bullying of a minor or the allowing of a minor to bully or cyber-bully another minor.
The penalty for running afoul of this new local rule . . .
"Upon conviction of a violation of this subsection, a parent, guardian or other person having custody or control of the minor shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $1,000.00 and costs. In lieu of a fine, the court may impose probation provided that a condition of probation is attendance in an available anti-bullying program . . ."
Given recent work dedicated toward reading programs, youth activities, curfews and now this anti-bully idea . . . Mayor Sly and City Council have dedicated quite a bit of time to legislating the behavior of Kansas City's "scholars."
Sadly, most of Kansas City's public safety needs are well beyond the scope of this kid's stuff. But for the moment yet another bit of feel-good legislation is up for consideration from a council that has (ironically) been bullied into submission by Mayor Sly.
Developing . . .
Sly isn't a bully. He's "charismatic" at least when the cameras are on.
ReplyDeleteWell, then, so relieved "charismatic" cybers are not covered under the ordinance.
ReplyDeleteMore from the thought police.
ReplyDeleteBREAKING NEWS! "B.C." uses the word "fart" in todays strip... "Pearls Before Swine" pokes fun at MASECTOMIES!
ReplyDeleteThose crazy letter writers are gonna nail.Pastis to the CROSS...

Kansas City THOUGHT POLICE are taking over.
ReplyDeleteShame on Sly and the City Council.
Don't they have sewers that need repairing?
Let me guess.
ReplyDeleteThe "available anti-bullying program" referred to in the ordinance will only be found in an inner city church?
KC Finances are in the same kind of shape the top button is on Jordaon Carver's blouse.
ReplyDeleteSo does this put an end to the posts from the nigger guy?
ReplyDeleteThis is RACIST!!!
ReplyDeleteWhite kids will be able to afford competent counsel to get any charges under this ordinance thrown out.
Black kids, with their parent-less households, will have to rely on the pro bono services of public defenders. Effective counsel? Not hardly!
the n word guy only has the mind of a child
ReplyDeleteAn ordinance passed, utopia achieved. While they are at it why not pass an ordinance against murder?
ReplyDelete8:18- I think they have an ordinance against murder. What they are lacking are signs to inform folks that it is illegal to commit murder.
ReplyDeleteActually, you people need to support this, this is part of what keeps our kids safe since teachers can't do it anymore. Wake up everybody!
ReplyDeleteWhat moron came up with this. So now instead of cyber bullying where you have evidence and records, some delinquent just goes and catches Cozell in the alley and sshoots his ass? Oh I get it if the kid kills another instead of bullying Sly can't enforce the law so he can blame it on someone else.
ReplyDeleteIn typical LC bureaucratic fashion the ordinance places all the responsibility to enforce behavior on parents who are not even allowed to spank their own kids in this town. Lets make it a felony to commit suicide over anything you read on the internet. Seems to me those are the real nut jobs.
9:32- If it comes with signs, I'll support it.
ReplyDeleteComb your beard. This is just another dog and pony show from Sly. This will merit a few cheap tv news articles and some smiling for the camera. Nothing more.
ReplyDeletesend em' to jail and teach em' a trade
ReplyDeleteActually, Juggy, the sponsors of this ordinance are all Councilmembers. James' name isn't even on this one.
ReplyDeleteNanny state protecting us from ourselves.
ReplyDeleteSoooo, who will be expected to enforce this ordinance? The KCPD is so overstaffed it shouldn't be a problem to rob Peter to pay Paul. Reassign some homicide, sex crimes and robbery detectives to handle the cyber-bullying caseload.
ReplyDeleteSee? This is why we need local political control of the KCPD.
First someone has to understand what they are saying to know if it is bad or not. Ever heard some of these kids testify for more things to do? It sounds like a Charlie Brown episode. blah blah blah.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Maybe these fines will pay for the broken sewers?
Why don't they pass an ordinance to fix the city's infrastructure?
