Gun rights take center stage today in Missouri politics following an important Gov. Jay veto.
Nixon vetoes bill that would have outlawed federal gun laws
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon vetoes legislation that would have made it a crime for federal agents to attempt to enforce federal gun laws in the state.
Missouri Gun Control Veto Raises Pro And Con Cries
The GOP response . . .
House Speaker Tim Jones said Friday that he was "shocked and astounded" by the veto . . . And he's calling for an override.
The reality:
"For an override to succeed in the House, Republicans would need to secure 109 votes, which is the exact number of Republican lawmakers in that chamber."
The bill wasn't just about saying "NO" to any gun control efforts coming from the Prez Obama Administration . . . It also contained some weird stuff . . . For instance, a section of the bill would make it illegal to publish gun owner's names. WTF?
In any event . . . Gov. Jay was under a great deal of pressure from his Democratic Party allies and a great many pundits to reject the legislation and with this veto we'll how much influence gun rights activists hold in Missouri.
Developing . . .
Veto Nixon
ReplyDeleteAsshole Dhimmicrat Scumbag Nixon has to go.
This is the trifecta for Jay.
ReplyDeleteHe vetoed Sharia law.

And now he's shooting down this gun bill nonsense. Way to go Governor! You are making me proud of our Democratic traditions!
Let's see how this plays when he runs for the Senate against Blunt
ReplyDeleteNixon did the right thing. State laws can't over ride federal laws. The Supreme Court has already ruled on that, more than once.
ReplyDeleteAnd British subjects have to pay their taxes and can' revolt...oh, wait a second...

ReplyDelete4:47 FTW!
ReplyDeleteHang the traitor!
ReplyDelete4:17 is the only one who is making sense.
ReplyDeleteREAL Republicans need to step up and make the override happen. There's only one way to stand up to a bully.
ReplyDeleteAh, if you can find the 2nd Amendment wording, you should be able to get your mind around the fact that federal law prevails over state legislation.
ReplyDeleteNot rocket science, scholars.
4:47, British subjects did not get to have a vote in the election of their king or leaders, that is the difference we have today, read some history dickweed.
ReplyDeleteOur government is buying the votes of the unwashed masses. Now we have representation without taxation. This will end one way or another. Conservatives don't riot or protest because we're too busy going to work to support our families as well as the parasitic 47%.

White Culture and Heritage Rally at Missouri Town on September 14?
ReplyDeleteGovernor Nixon is wrong. #1, Americans have a God-given right to bear arms and any attempt by the Federal Government to infringe that right is unconstitutional. Gun-control laws, any and all, are thus unconstitutional. The 2nd Amendment was written to legally secure/protect that God-given right.
ReplyDelete#2, Art. VI, clause 2, U.S. Constitution (the “supremacy clause”) reads,"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made IN PURSUANCE THEREOF;...shall be the law of the land." Emphasis mine.
In Federalist No. 33 (6th para), Alexander Hamilton says: [paraphrase] These laws NOT made pursuant to the Constitution will be merely acts of usurpation, and will deserve to be treated as such… Read more at http://publiushuldah.wordpress.com/category/supremacy-clause/
