The Overland Park Chief's blog provides facts and figures on the recent Golden Ghetto checkpoint . . . Take a look: "403 vehicles entered the check lane between the hours of 11:00 pm and 2:00 am. Officers found reason to test 38 drivers.
Of the 38 drivers tested six were determined to be over the limit or under the influence of alcohol or drugs to a degree that rendered them incapable of safely driving their vehicle. In addition to the DUI arrests, two drivers were charged with refusal of a preliminary breath test, two were charged with transporting an open container, and one was charged with driving while suspended."
The OPPD Chief says it was a success and it's a sign of the times that drivers are no longer "safe" from avoiding DUI charges when they pass cowtown checkpoints.
