FACT CHECK: KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL BUILDING REPURPOSING HAS FAILED!!!

Sorry . . . There are only so many schools that Brad Pitt can save . . .

Here's the newspaper spin this morning . . .

Attempts to revive old KC schools carry some hard lessons

Meanwhile . . .

THE REAL LESSON HERE IS THAT THERE'S NOTHING TO BE DONE WITH THESE OLD AND BUSTED AND EMPTY SCHOOLS THAT ONLY SERVE TO BLIGHT SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS!!!

The local real estate market doesn't need more condos . . .

Weather, vandals and time have already ruined the buildings that sit abandoned . . .

Financing for so many repurposing efforts has already fallen through . . .

There simply isn't an easy answer and the only thing that's clear is that Board Members who mothballed the buildings didn't understand the cruel reality of the local real estate market.

Developing . . . But probably not.

  1. And overwrought (mostly) middle-age (mostly) women nutcases don't want a Walmart grocery store even though they'll be the first to shop there once it's built.

  2. The toy train is gonna fix it!!

  3. 7:43----fuck off. You're wrong, and you're an idiot. Any large commercial development at the Bingham site would be a bad call because of traffic and surrounding homes/streets. So STFU about Walmart.

  4. See ya at Walmart, 8:08.

  5. 8:08 is an example of the middle age (being kind) overwrought reaction to Walmart. Those old fogeys want to tell everyone how they should live because that generation is such a great example to follow.

  6. Yeah cause you can tell how old someone is by their online comments. Idiot.

  7. If the City held themselves to the same rules and standards that they hold the people to, the city would be in trouble. They come down on the property owns and charge them to tear down your run down building. Yet the city owns a lot of run down buildings, save some money, knock them down and sell the property. The city needs to take a HARD look at itself, and clean it's own house and set the example.

  8. Why is the school board being allowed to just leave these eye sores sitting. If these buildings were owned by tax paying citizens the city would be all up their asses to tear them down and clean the lots.

  9. 8:34: Nope. Because I went to the meetings and saw all the old people having hissyfits. Young people know how to adapt to this century. I'd say 8:08 is about 65, female, divorced, and a possibly lezzie wannabe.

  10. Oh, and young people are not so intolerant of others' views that they tell them to STFU, fuck off, and call them idiots. That's evidence of their having had children (and maybe grandchildren) and used those methods to quell dissent at the dinner table because they could not stand to consider that there may be more than one side to a story.

  11. Hey,fuck you dude

  12. Kansas City remains one big fail under the School Board and Mayor of this town. Both will need to be changed before progress can begin. Good luck otherwise.

  13. 11:23: Your age is still showing. You're about up to "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." Dude indeed.

  14. They need to let KCPS sell the properties. If you want something done with that property; take up a collection and buy it...

It is hard enough to find anyone who wants anything to do with those rat nests.

  15. That's insulting to rats, 5:16!
