CELEBRATE!!! AUDIT OF KANSAS CITY WATER DEPARTMENT ENCOURAGED!!!

Last week KANSAS CITY INSIDERS noted City Hall fear regarding the reality of a Missouri Water Department Audit on the way.

Today . . .

KCTV5 Reporter Eric Chaloux brings good news of what could be a serious examination of an embattled Kansas City institution.

To wit . . .

A RECENT LETTER FROM MISSOURI AUDITOR LAYS OUT OPTIONS FOR AN UPCOMING KANSAS CITY WATER DEPARTMENT AUDIT!!!

More . . . Audit requested for KCMO Water Dept.

The money line from Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich:

"In light of the growing concerns among the citizens of Kansas City about the performance of the Kansas City Water Department, we believe it would be in the best interest of the citizens of the city to have this audit performed," Schweich said in the letter.

Here's how it could go down . . .

- Mayor and Council could ask for an audit and arrange the costs - Unlikely, give that City Hall doesn't want to be accountable to anyone.

- A Citizen Petition Could Request An Audit: This would require valid signatures from 10,487 registered voters

- Or Gov. Jay Could Order An Audit . . .

Remember that a controversial $12 Mil Customer Service Contract sparked this debate and is yet another sign that Kansas City's (locally controlled) Water Department remains awash in systemic problems.

  2. Every nook and cranny of City Hall should be audited. Start with the Public Works Department after the Water Department. Then the Housing Department and certainly the Legal Department.

  5. Please please please help us Mr State Auditor. If you expose financial malfeasance in kc mo, who has long been a bastion of corruption, just think how grateful we will all be, and how our trust in public officials doing the right thing will be validated.
