TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! BEHIND THE SCENES: CRITICS OF COUNCIL DISTRICT REALIGNMENT WARN OF 'TEA PARTY PEOPLE' RISING TO POWER IN THE KANSAS CITY GREAT WHITE NORTHLAND!!!

Kansas City mainstream media has been following the lead of this blog and KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS when it comes to the discussion of Council District realignment but now there's another aspect of the story worth mention.

To wit . . .

After a brief conversation with an Kansas City Insider and top local Democratic Party Power Broker who will help decide this issue . . . Here's what we learned:

KANSAS CITY CRITICS OF COUNCIL DISTRICT REALIGNMENT ARGUE THAT ELIMINATING AT-LARGE DISTRICTS WOULD GIVE RISE TO 'TEA PARTY PEOPLE' WINNING OFFICE IN THE NORTHLAND!!!

Here's a brief snippet of the argument . . .

"Split the districts up and you'll see more fringe candidates. There could be an influx of people from the Northland who, frankly, don't have the best interests of inner-city communities or even Midtown in mind. With smaller districts you might see members of the tea party gain a foothold on the Council - Which they haven't been able to do until now."

It might be surprising to some (but not TKC) that advocates of Council District Realignment in the 3rd District dispute this claim.

"That's ridiculous and that kind of attitude violates basic voting rights. If the Northland wants to elect people form the Tea Party than that is their right. This is about bringing representation back to neighborhoods and not keeping people out of office. Or at least it shouldn't be . . ."

Still . . . The "Kansas City Tea Party Warning" is an important part of the Council District realignment currently under consideration.
