MUST SEE!!! PLAZA PATROL ACTIVISTS PROFILE AY-MUSIK AND REPORT KANSAS CITY COUNTRY CLUB PARTY DISTRICT HIP-HOP STREET MUSICIAN PERMIT DISPARITY!!!

For the moment, Kansas City's Country Club Plaza remains relatively peaceful despite fear of youth flash mob violence earlier this Spring.

In fact, things have calmed down so much that local activists are investigating other instances of shopping district disparity.

To wit . . .

PLAZA PATROL RECENTLY PROFILED A KANSAS CITY HIP-HOP GROUP WHO CAN'T GET A STREET PERFORMER PERMIT ON THE COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA!!!

This is important considering that the guy with the bagpipes drives me crazy whenever I visit the place and there isn't anybody who can argue artistic merit when it comes to performers forced to play for pedestrians.

Anyhoo, here's pla PLAZA PATROL has to say:

"Over the past few weeks there has been a hip hop band called AY-Musik playing on the Plaza sidewalks, just like the hippies and Hare Krishnas and people who tap plastic cups against their crutches to gain attention and spare change and trumpet players and hoop dancers and bagpipers. Over the past couple of months, it feels as if the Plaza has been transformed from a hostile zone where young, black people get pepper sprayed to a fun, inclusive venue. Granted, the Plaza refused to give AY-Musik a permit like they give all the other street performers, so we will see how it goes. For now, it's fun, fresh, and AWESOME!!

"We have missed them over the past couple of weeks since we usually arrive at the Plaza right around the time they are leaving. AY-Musik plans to play every Friday and Saturday all summer from 5:30 until the crowds thin out (usually around 10:30pm)."

And so, Kansas City's Country Club Plaza remains a cultural battleground as The Great Recession continues for most of this plebs out on the weekend . . .
