Kansas City history is in peril according to a recent ranking.
KCTV5: Plaza listed on endangered list
This time it's not flash mobs but corporate development that threatens this town's premiere party district.
Take a look:
The Historic Kansas City Foundation Notes . . .
"The Country Club Plaza and surrounding residential neighborhoods are at risk of losing historic integrity as original structures are altered or demolished and new incompatible development is built."
Sadly, the passage sounds like a brief summation of The West Edge fiasco as yet another neighborhood fights to preserve it's uniqueness that saves this town from being just another suburban strip mall.
Oh, it's endangered alright, but not for the reasons they talk about in that article. We all know the REAL reasons, don't we?
ReplyDeleteHire some brick layers.. it' called French Colonial if someone needs to look it up there's interwebs.
ReplyDeleteIt is called Spanish Colonial. I thought the Westside was a Spanish colony. Preserving the Plaza could provide work to some of the Spanish colonist who will soon be legal.
ReplyDeleteI hate the Moor.
ReplyDeleteIago
Might as well put a South Pole outlet store and Kool Aid stands in there and get it over with.
ReplyDeleteHighwoods could find a way to fuck up a bologna sandwich.
This is liKe Somolia.
ReplyDeleteAround 1620 the Spanish claimed this territory and called it Louisiana.
ReplyDeleteWell we still have memories when not real long ago the Plaza had no traffic lights, was laid back, classy, hell even Westport was like that. Then came the crack, wall street, and big box developer epidemic in the 90's.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P. Westport and Plaza.
After 70 years the French took control of of Spanish Louisana. The French had always managed the Louisana Territory.
ReplyDeleteThe Moors were black and Muslim and the Spanish Conquistadors ran them out of Spain. Maybe KCPD needs to hire some conquistadors.
ReplyDeleteTruer words were never spoken, 3:54...
ReplyDeleteSOLIDARITY!
ReplyDeleteTime to make a better kansas city.
ReplyDeleteThe year of the cat!

ReplyDeletePlaza Inclusiveness Specialty Services ..P.I.S.S. perhaps you've heard of them..
ReplyDeleteWill there be a PISS section housing? I'm in
ReplyDeleteThe developers have always had the last word. The question is where will we play the Djembe at 4am.
ReplyDeleteIf they don't give a PISS they will get PISSed on.
ReplyDeleteWhy is anyoe interested in the plaza? Milan is much nicer for sshopping. The plaza is a lower middle class entertainment district at best

ReplyDeleteLOL! I couldn‘t believe the first time I heard the saying, "People, the other tofu".
ReplyDeletePaula Deen was about to pop so its time to eat her.
ReplyDeleteWell maybe the city ought to pass a 3/4 cent sales tax for the next 50 years and we can have the Plaza Gas Proofed.
