KANSAS CITY INSIDER AND ACTIVISTS TELL US THAT THEY HAVE THEIR DOUBTS ON A SO-CALLED "GANG TRUCE" REPORTED BY MAINSTREAM MEDIA!!!
One insider sent this message our way . . .
"Jonathan Weir of KMBZ called the KCPD wusses on his show this morning for not making any arrests at the gang truce on Troost.
"None of the gang members even showed.
Media fail."
And then . . .
KANSAS CITY ACTIVIST ALONZO WASHINGTON POSES SOME IMPORTANT QUESTION AND INSIGHT ON THE SO-CALLED GANG TRUCE PROMOTED BY A LOCAL MINISTER!!!
Mr. Washington tweets . . .
"What a joke. The amount of murders in this hell hole will prove 2 you there is no gang truce. The media will put anything on TV ."
And . . .
"A purely fictional story was reported as fact because of the media's love of highlighting Black crooks. No gangs were ever filmed."
Now, what we know for sure is that Kansas City communities fear a spike in Summer violence . . . No argument from anyone on that.
We have 1st person confirmation of a gang truce a few years ago when the murder rate spiked FRIGHTENINGLY - BUT (as we noted) the effort was more along the lines of quick job placement that a few influential East Side denizens put forth so that there was some kind of alternative to deadly violence . . . In our initial posting, we noted that the folks who organized that effort didn't seem to be involved in this media blitz.
And so . . .
Among Kansas City Insiders there's now a real doubt regarding the story of a Kansas City minister who might have gone a bit too far using scare tactics to draw attention to his anti-violence rhetoric.
