Kansas City Housing Authority Improvement?!

Kansas City Public Radio offers this retrospective on this town's longstanding housing problem . . .

Housing Authority of Kansas City Improves Quality

Here's a synopsis of the report . . .

"In the 1980’s, some of the public housing units in Kansas City were infested with rats, mice and cockroaches. Plumbing and electrical problems put the health and safety of residents at risk. Complaints to the housing authority were ignored and it seemed to be an organization more about serving political needs of a select few than a place organized to provide people clean, safe, affordable housing. Under such circumstances crime became problematic."

Let's not forget . . ..

MOST OF THE IMPROVEMENT IN KANSAS CITY HOUSING WAS THE RESULT OF THE FEDS STRIPPING CONTROL OUT OF CITY HALL!!!

Once again and for the cheap seats . . .

KANSAS CITY LOCAL CONTROL HAS LONG TERM PATTERN/TREND OF TURNING EVERY INSTITUTION IN MANAGES INTO GARBAGE!!!

And so we should celebrate housing improvement in Kansas City and wait for the next disaster as City Hall takes control over housing back from the Feds.

  1. Another example of why local control of the Police dept is a bad idea

  2. This is all fluff. The Housing Authority is a mess.

  3. what a load of CRAP. The Housing authority razed units then pushed the tenants into private housing without all of the touted social services put forth by Ed Loundes (SP?) The housing authority does not sanction bad landlords, they turn their backs on SEC 8 Voucher holders because after the initial looksee, they have done their due diligence. They have 4 ex-cops on staff to ride herd on their public housing units, but we end up having to keep on KCPD staff "apartment cops" for the crazy tenants ruling the roost. According to data, these are SEC 8 voucher holders causing chaos in our neighborhoods.
