SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY PLAZA YEAR-ROUND CURFEW DEBATE EXPLODES WITH NEW RACISM ALLEGATIONS AND MORE COMMENTARY ON THE HOT MESS!!!

Kansas City tempers are exploding as the topic of year-round entertainment district curfew expansion has seemingly reached critical mass.

To wit . . .

MAINSTREAM MEDIA REPORTING ALLEGATIONS OF RACISM FROM A KANSAS CITY REV HAS PUSHED THIS TRAGIC SITUATION TO THE BRINK!!!

LINKS . . .

Reverend calls KC teen curfew ‘racist’

Social media response from a former KC School Board Candidate . . .

"I would just like to say, Rev. Wright NEVER said the curfew was a race issue. He constantly said is was an issue of wealth. He specifically said his organization the National PEOPLES Movement was about ALL races!! FOX 4 News Kansas City should be ashamed of themselves allowing their reporter to "spin" the truth because she was NOT allowed in the meeting. She even threatened to not report on the meeting if she and the camera man were not allowed in the meeting. Moral of this story, DON'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU HEAR!! THE NEWS COMPANY CAN SOUNDBITE ANYTHING YOU SAY AND TURN IT INTO WHAT THEY WANT."

KMBC: Pastor speaks out against proposed expanded curfew

Dave Helling finds a way to make the subject boring: Curfew debate has decades-old roots, no real solution

KCTV5: Community meeting discusses expansion to Kansas City's curfew

And so . . .

THE YEAR-ROUND CURFEW EXPANSION IS NOW THE SUBJECT OF A DREADED KANSAS CITY DEBATE ON RACISM THAT NOBODY IS GOING TO WIN!!!

Even better . . .

MAYOR SLY IS NO LONGER IN THE POSITION OF PEACE MAKER AND HE'S NOW FORCED TO PICK A SIDE IN THE DEBATE BETWIXT RACIAL PROFILING VS. SUPPORTERS OF YEAR-ROUND KANSAS CITY ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT CURFEW EXPANSION!!!

Whatever the case . . . Kansas City seems more divided across racial lines than ever before and fearful of crime as the warmer months slowly slouch toward this town.

DEVELOPING . . .

Shame on Tony. The kids do damage to property, themselves and others. They have no business in a shopping and entertainment area.

The so-called adults obviously never wanted to make the commitment to be parents- they just wanted to fuck without taking the time or expense to use contraception so the kids are here. Now they want to drop off the output of that irresponsible behavior somewhere so they can repeat the process after a few drinks or tokes.

I do not care what color their skin is.

  10. All argument aside, the reality is this: The crowds of kids that are on the Plaza on the weekends cause fear, that keeps others away. The people that used to spend money there will not spend it there anymore. The businesses will close/move because of lack of paying customers. The Plaza will become an empty shell. Call it racism or whatever, but that is what will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ask yourself...why do the kids cause fear?

    They aren't hurting anyone.

    Its because of RACISM.

    And why are people RACISTS?

Because black kill and drug all the time.

Hell, we had one black employee and she stole from us. Live and learn.

  15. I have mixed feelings about the curfew, but what this REALLY is about is City Hall understanding that they've got a serious CRIME issue in this city that they haven't addressed, (and don't want to.)

As soon as someone dies or gets shot ON The Plaza, all of their economic development investments will be in vain. This Mayor is allowing P&L, the streetcar, The Plaza, and every other "fun and exciting" place in Kansas City turn into Bannister Mall.

I'm paraphrasing but it was real close to that. It isn't the Plaza's responsibility to pay for these kids entertainment. But you can bet the right reverend Wright is going to line his pockets before this concludes. Who appointed rev Wright as the ombudsman for the black kids on the plaza? Young blacks are killing each other at alarming rates. Shootings east and south are as common as daylight. These kids come out of school like borderline retards. In short, black urban youth have gone to hell in a hand basket. Meanwhile the poverty pimps focus on squeezing the plaza and the taxpayers. Fuck them and anybody like em.

  29. Need CLEAR meaning of racism, then work toward positive measures and justifiable laws that keep children and adults safe, along with properties. Property, in this scenario, appears to be more important than flesh and blood.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Not sure about that, 9:56. The curfew ordinance does not specify race; it applies to everyone regardless of race or ethnicity.

At my company, if it's late on a Friday or Saturday night (>9:00 pm) and there are kids out front jacking around, being destructive, pissing people off, etc., they're asked to leave. We give them 10 minutes. Usually, they leave. If they don't, we call the police, or we'll have someone stand outside the front door until the kids go someplace else. Is it a perfect situation? No, but what are the alternatives?

I still wonder where the parents are, and why they're not being responsible. And then I hear parents whine that if they discipline their kids, then their kids won't "like" them anymore. If you think you're not ready to be a parent, you're not. Be a parent, not a friend. If you want a friend, buy a dog -- more respect and less money.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Those "parents" should not be trusted with the health and welfare of a dog.

You would not just turn your dog loose on the plaza on the weekends.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Blah—Blah—Blah—Blah.

Bottom line is parents are responsible for the children and their actions. It’s it the parent job to entertain their children NOT THE CITIES!!! If your kids don’t have anything to do find them something to do. They can hang out in their own neighborhoods just like we did growing up. If the Police have to get involved, then the parent should be held accountable for their child’s actions, just as the child should.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Unless this curfew states ONLY ARREST AND TICKET BLACK KIDS it is not racist.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It appears to me these teenagers have started an anti-apartheid movement

    ReplyDelete
  35. Diversion, subtrafuge...the racism on the Plaza that occurs is different than a citywide curfew. As someone else said a CITYWIDE curfew doesn't specify race and again it is CITYWIDE. It does remain to be seen how it is enforced. It is up to the people to monitor that. The National People's Movement is a whole other thing. People really need to investigate these groups! I hate racism - bigotry of all kinds in all it's forms. My experience has been that black folks are some of the most racist folks - especially in some of these "groups" that teach separatism. I don't think that is specifically what Rev. Wright teaches but ask him what he thinks/teaches about gay people. Ask a lot of the black groups/organizations/leaders what they are teaching youth about gay people. Thank you Jason Collins!

  36. Creative Class4/30/13, 11:44 AM

These are just kids! We need to provide them with exciting, expensive, modern and hip things to do. State of the art air conditioned (green) mega kid centers for computer gaming, free Internet, dancing Street cars to transport them to the their very own specially designed personal shopping and entertainment centers. Kids only parks where they can be in a safe and fun environment at 2:00 AM. To do this we need to attract affluent hip people here to invent all these wonderful ideas, attractions, and self esteem builders. The new Airport for example will prove we are modern, ahead of the curve, and are not going to be left behind with something that more than just functional. Streetcar will bring unheard of prosperity to KC. It will help us double the population, most of which will be entrepreneurship doing big things and creating satisfying jobs for a population eager for a walk-able city with all the fancy amenities.

  45. 10:40 AM We're in agreement on penalizing parents of under-aged children. However, why are these young people patronizing a location that has very few minority businesses and hires? What is the breakdown of hires, by ethnicity? The welcome sign for droves of minorities says NO with an X over the NO! We have an ADULT leadership and team problem in the city!

    ReplyDelete
  46. "The welcome sign for droves of minorities says NO with an X over the NO!"

That is too much hyperbole and you are making a lot of assumptions.

The plaza is now comprised of many corporate chains who follow federal mandates for minority hiring practices. Not every minority has negative feelings toward the Plaza. You might not realize this but the assumptions you're making are sort of racist even if you're advocating for black teens.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I have to sympathize with teenagers. No business owner seems to want them around.
The city can open all kinds of attractions for them, but they are just not "cool" enough and the kids will not come.
We don't need more Bannister Malls, and it is what will happen if Highwoods (and Kansas City) allow the children to take over.
We really need to nip this right now before the Plaza becomes a high crime area.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Why would Tony delete any comments, especially Chucks?

One thing I have found: when I try to comment from my iPhone, the website eats my comments and they are never displayed. 52. This is such monumental crap. We have a 16 year old daughter. We do not need the city to provide entertainment for her. We don't even need a curfew to keep her home. Why? Because we are parents, and we parent our daughter. This means no late nights running the plaza. This means they hang out at someones home if it is after 9PM. This means the parents share their homes for get-togethers for the kids to watch movies, shoot pool, play video games, etc, etc. The city is NOT responsible for taking care of our kids. The city is NOT responsible to parent our children.

    blame whoever you want...blame

    the mayor...city council...the
    voters...
    BUT HERE'S A FACT...
    our government has taken billions/
    trillions of dollars and wasted

not just 18th and vine..but billions/trillions of dollars on

    trillions of dollars wasted and
used to keep the rich and powerful
    in america happy.
Read where we let 500 billion dollars in untaxed dollars leave the country because the tax code
    is so fucked up.
We have a problem. And we have to
solve it or it will get worse.
    No...nooone wants to take careof

    abandoned...jailing the parents
    won't work...these kids have no
    homes/no supervision/no one to
    raise them right.
So we can scream and holler and
make up shit but it doesn't solve
    the problem.
    Chuck has some points...but chuck
has no real solutions for the
    real world problems.
Why can't we spend some money and
keep these kids in our own
    country off the streets...do something.
    We've wasted billions/trillions of
    dollars on other countries and
    keeping despots in power...fighting
    useless wars...giving tax breaks
worth half a billion dollars for
companies to move from missour to
    kansas...we have to do something
or this problem only gets worse.
Why can't we spend some money to
help these kids. We spend 3 billion
a year to keep other nation in
    our influence...
    WHY NOT....THE POLITICIANS HAVE
LET US DOWN...SPEND THE MONEY IN
    AMERICA...BUILD A PLACE FOR THESE
KIDS...GIVE THEM A PLACE TO GO TO..
    GIVE THEM RESOURCES BECAUSE EITHER
    THE CORRUPT POLITICIANS THROt
    W THE
MONEY ON ANOTHER NATION (200 BILLION A YEAR) OR WE SPEND IT TO
    SAVE OUR OWN PEOPLE.
When do all of us wake up and realize that we can yell about5
this problem but it never ends.
We need to spend money in america..
    not iraq/afghanistan/russia/japan/
    south korea/...when we need to
    solve problems here.
We are letting the pols get away
    with our money...
we have to solve this problem ...or
    we will see it grow.
    How little money would ittake
to help these kids who have no
    guidance or parents....
10 million ...20 million...50 million? We waste trillions
    ...why not help the kids.
SOMEONE HAS TO HAVE A DOABLE
    ANSWER.
SOMEONE HAS TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS...THEY'RE NOT NEW...
WILL WE SIT BY AND LET THE
    PROBLEM GET WORSE?
    sure...in reality we shouldn't
have to take care of these kids..
    but we have nochoice!!!!!
