KANSAS CITY SEAT BELT CRACKDOWN QUESTION: PUBLIC SAFETY EFFORT OR EXPANSION OF PROBABLE CAUSE?!?!

Kansas City residents are now facing increased seatbelt fines.

In the aftermath, a TKC Social Media friend raised a rather interesting question:

"Is this new seat belt law really about public safety or just an expansion of "probable cause" to search vehicles/pull over people of color/etc?!?!"

By the way and just to keep it real, the etc. also applies to po'folk white people . . . So don't act like this doesn't impact just about everybody or at least should be a cause for a bit of critical thinking . . .

E-Mail From KCPD:

"A new seat belt ordinance was recently passed by the city council that changes our ordinance from a secondary to a primary seat belt law. What that means is that officers no longer need another primary violation (such as speeding, running a stop sign, etc.) to stop a vehicle and issue a UTT if the officer observes that either the driver or any front seat passenger is not wearing a seat belt.

The fine for this violation was also raised from $10 to $50 dollars.

This ordinance was adopted for the safety of our community and to increase compliance."

  2. My advise is to keep your seat belt fastened regardless if your driving or not with the way things are going in this city.

People of color hate other people of color and will do virtually anything to keep you running around in circles while they steal all your loot! Your colorful assClowncilman recommended the legislation in the first place.

Its too hard to get my pistol out of my baggy-assed pants with a seabelt in the way.

  8. Most niggers are too fat to be able to buckle their seat belts. In most cases niggers only use seat belts to keep the KFC, Popeye's or Church's safe til they get home.

  14. It's a shame that KC is taxing its citizens because our elected officials can't effectively manage the city's resources.

  17. Next time the city says "we want to pass this bond, it wont cost you anything in increased taxes" ask yourself, where is that money coming from? the bank isnt just handing them money for free, its made up in revenue generated from ticketing, what I dont get is that there was a promise that if the seatbelt law was passed that people would not be pulled over just to check and see if your wearing one, they must have "forgotten" or thought we forgot.
