Isn't the point of school to give kids guidance, supervision and skills? If that's no happening right now, then adding more schools isn't going to make it happen.
ReplyDeleteAfter education in schools, then what? Jobs, jobs, jobs!
ReplyDeleteIf this is a new idea, I have a Studebaker I would like to sell you.
ReplyDeleteAlternative schools have been around for 30 years, and they are a real blessing for some children.
I cannot imagine that they are a cure for crime, or for that matter anything else.
Their purpose is to provide for students who do not do well in a traditional (especially high school) setting. But they are not gonna cure 40 years of bad management at the KCPS.
How about building these schools with a electrifed fence, bars on the windows, and individual rooms for easier supervision.
ReplyDeleteYes. The only time you can ligitmately start addressing the underlying home and personal problems behind this behavior is once the child becomes a candidate for "alternative" school. So yes but sort them early enough for it to make a difference. Also be realistic. Every one is not going to college and isn't even wired that way. Many are talented in trades but we look down on that now, especially in the black community for some reason.
ReplyDeleteThese are high-paying jobs that often lead to owning your own business or making union wages. Hey even the doctor needs a toilet fixed and if you are the one to do it or install his specail wood design floor you can charge what you want.
Could Alt. Schools Curb Kansas City Crime?!?
ReplyDeleteNo. A state takeover will solve that. Military style teacher and requirements. You have to deal with the uncontrolled behavior before you can educate. Can't put the cart before the horse and Kansas City loves to do that. It always leads to the same result... failure.
