ATTENTION!!! SOME DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY STREETS NOW GO BOTH WAYS!!!

A reaction to the HORRIBLE TRAFFIC JAMS and otherwise bad planning of Kansas City warm weather construction . . .

Advisory: Key downtown streets converted to two-ways in May

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department will launch the first of a set of street conversions this week to help drivers more effectively navigate downtown Kansas City.

Walnut Street will be converted to a two-way street between Truman Road and 20th Street on Sunday, May 5, weather permitting. To prepare, work will begin on Wednesday, May 1 with adjustment of traffic signals on Walnut Street at 18th, 19th and 20th streets.

Crews will also convert the following key downtown streets from one-way to two-ways in mid-May:

- Baltimore Avenue between Ninth Street and 12th Street
- 14th Street between Broadway Boulevard and Wyandotte Street
- Walnut Street between Fifth Street and 12th Street

Please note, Walnut Street between 12th Street and Truman Road is already a two-way street.

No changes will be made to parking alignment during this process.

  1. Streetcar strikes again. Hope cost for this comes out of streetcar budget. Public Works money should be used to repair and replace the many sad streets in the City.

  2. Who do you think is paying for the Main Street bridge replacement for the Streetcar project? Not the streetcar fund but all the taxpayers and they did not even get to vote on the streetcar project.

  3. I love listening to people against the streetcar project when it will boost the Kansas City economy and projections estimate it will more than pay for itself in the development and property value increases that will ensue. So cynical!
