TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! MEMO E-MAIL BLAST REVEALS KC STRIP TROLLEY WILL CEASE OPERATION THANKS TO CORDISH P&L DISTRICT POLICY!!!
Kansas City transit certainly has been a hot topic as of late. Accordingly, check a memo recently sent our way by AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS which reveals a sad fact . . .
THE KC STRIP TROLLEY WILL CEASE OPERATIONS!!!
The KC Strip Trolley has had its share of problems but we heard they were looking forward to a good Summer.
Even worse . . .
IT LOOKS LIKE A BIG PART OF THE BLAME FOR THIS KANSAS CITY TRANSIT DEFEAT FALLS ON CORDISH P&L DISTRICT DECISIONS ACCORDING TO THIS MEMO TO EMPLOYEES!!!
The memo is circulating far and wide right now but thanks to all the folks who care about Kansas City who sent it our way.
Here is the money line that calls out Cordish from KC Transportation Group Leader Bill George:
"The Cordish company has decided they no longer want to offer discounts to KC Strip patrons, thus parting company with more than 50 other local bars, restaurants and shops that participate in the program. Despite repeated outreach to Cordish they have refused to change their minds.
It's discouraging to me, as a lifelong resident and businessperson, that a company that benefits tremendously from the taxpayers, tourism industry, business community, etc. can be so shortsighted and willfully against something that benefits the same people that subsidize them more than $12 million per year."
Here is the straight story, full text of a CONFIRMED MEMO from KC Transportation Group Leader Bill George:
MEMO FROM BILL GEORGE REGARDING THE KC STRIP
We are going to cease running the KC Strip service effective immediately. We have been pleased with its performance and it's main contributions of safely transporting patrons and increasing business to KC's nightlife scene.
The Power & Light District was the largest beneficiary of this service. More than 15,000 people per year have been delivered to the destination, increasing the P&L district's sales and decreasing their KCMO taxpayer supported deficit.
However, the Cordish company has decided they no longer want to offer discounts to KC Strip patrons, thus parting company with more than 50 other local bars, restaurants and shops that participate in the program. Despite repeated outreach to Cordish they have refused to change their minds.
It's discouraging to me, as a lifelong resident and businessperson, that a company that benefits tremendously from the taxpayers, tourism industry, business community, etc. can be so shortsighted and willfully against something that benefits the same people that subsidize them more than $12 million per year.
Please note, that while not obligated, we will continue to make our payments to KCMO until the loan amount is repaid in full. We appreciate the support and vision many city officials displayed with this project and will constantly strive to find ways to increase tourism and commerce in Kansas City.

TKC PostScript - KCTG deserves A GREAT DEAL OF CREDIT for paying a loan back to Kansas City - That was the only issue TKC ever really had with this trolley line and it's nice to see this local company is making it right even though they aren't required to do as much.
This is bad news for the Streetcar.
ReplyDeleteThey should really pay attention to what went wrong here.
Bill George meets his match (for BS)....the Cordish gang. LOL
ReplyDeleteFeud between Billy George and Cordish developing....this should be good!
ReplyDeleteBill will win. Cordish already wants out of KC.
ReplyDeleteNow that Cordish got their streetcar the hell with everyone else.
ReplyDelete*SNORE*
ReplyDeleteThis is an extremely bad move for Westport.
ReplyDeleteWestport was finally getting momentum and KC can't work to support a project that was bringing in business.
That's the way we do things in Kansas City. We cave in to big out of town corporations and shoot local business in the foot.
Where are the council people?
Where is the Mayor?
If we can't keep a trolley line alive that doesn't say much for the future of the street car.
Why spend less than 100 thousand when you can spend 100 million. That's Kansas City logic.
ReplyDeleteWell fuck Bill George and his failed business. It's too bad that the P&L couldn't save it for him. What a pompous, self-serving ass. No, we owe him nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe KC Strip had been discovered by East Side thugs as a cheap way to spend an evening getting bent. They were causing commotion at the stops and Cordsih didn't want to deal with it cause they have enough problems on their own.
ReplyDeleteCity Council won't do anything about this. Marcason and Glover are two of the most useless members anyway. I don't think Glover has done a thing since he got elected but sleep n his office.
ReplyDelete4:03 makes a point.
ReplyDeleteEVERY time I ever saw it, it was empty.
Empty train is right. But the same thing will be said about the new streetcar.
ReplyDeleteWait and see.
The word got out quick about the drunken and sexual conduct on the thing. Dumbfuck Nigro even had onboard cameras and playback at the website showing people simulating sex, giving head etc. Lately the Gangsta's highjacked the thing just like they took over Bill George's club "7" that tanked. Both times he blamed the failures on The P&L District. The previous Council got taken on the thing and the current Mayor and Council wasn't willing to subsidize the "Bill's" egos any further.
ReplyDeleteThis will have no effect on Westport. The Trolley's were mostly empty.
ReplyDeleteIt may have an effect on Nigro's bar, which the Trolley conveniently stopped at.
On the plus side, the empty Trolley will no longer lumber down Pennsylvania, holding up traffic.
4:03 has a point alright, the point is, NIGGERS ruin everything!!! EVERYTHING!
ReplyDeletePWT AINT SHIT EITHER ... YOU RACIST JACKASS
DeleteBoo Hoo for Bill Nigro. When will Westport ever be rid of that loser? Everything he touches turns to shit.
ReplyDeleteThe same thing that doomed the trolley will kill the Streetcar. It'll be a sad, expensive legacy for Sly to live down.
ReplyDeleteTony? I think they deserve credit when they actually pay off the loan, not when they promise to pay it off.
ReplyDeletePlease note, that while not obligated, we will continue to make our payments to KCMO until the loan amount is repaid in full. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW CITY HALL SQUANDERS TAXPAYERS DOLLARS.
ReplyDeleteYou watch he won't pay it off he and Glazer will get together and cook up a way to fuck the taxpayers. Glazer and Nigro tighter than Sly's belt around his huge ass gut.
ReplyDeleteKCTG does a lot of business with the city. They'll pay off their loan because they make up the cash in less than a month from all the business the city throws their way.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that so many of you people are that far outside the loop.
If the city is not benefitting from its invessment they should call the note (the balance of the $) immediately just like a bank would do. George and his huge French employer have the $. What's your take Tony? How's this any different than the $15,000 missing if Georeg doesn't finish out until the $ is paid back?
ReplyDeleteBill George might not be legally obligated to pay back the debt but how about morally obligated? Oh, II forgot. Bill George doesn't have any morals.
ReplyDeletepeople dogging George and Nigro obviously have agendas. Those 2 sincerely are about KC and trying to make it better. Unlike Cordish, that receives $12mill check from KCMO taxpayers to support their operations.
ReplyDeleteWestport is doing very well since Americas Pub closed. Bottom line...P&L is for suburban kids, Plaza for yuppies and Westport for 20 something hipsters.
Nothing can kill the streetcar. It will be built, it will run. Even if it's empty. That's not the point of it. As soon as City Hall insiders and HDR Engineering get their money and payoffs out of the project it won't matter.
