Just a quick note about competition or the lack of thereof in Jackson County.

Yes, yes . . . It's early in the game but things are already starting to fall into place.
One insider says, "Mike has picked up enemies and potential opponents over the years and no matter hard he works, he can't clear away or buy off all of his competition."
And this sheds a bit more light on the Cathy Jolly hire.
Yes, she is connected.
Yes, she is cute.
Yes, she is taking down a boat load of cash for 21 hours a week - Doesn't that come out to about $40 bucks an hour? Sure, she might be worth it even though the County frowns upon taking on part time workers.
But Jackson County Insiders have 2 solid ideas on why she was REALLY hired . . .
1. She's in place as a poison pill if any other lady wants to run against the JaxCo Exec. Ms. Jolly may not go for it but even the possibility of her filing to split the lady vote would scare any female politico in town.
2. She's now out of the race to run against JaxCo Exec Sanders. Again and rather impressively, Exec Mike Sanders has been able to kill most of his enemies with kindness.
But danger still lurks . . .
ONLY JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS ARE BOLD ENOUGH TO REALIZE AND TELL US THAT MAYOR SLY DOESN'T LIKE MIKE SANDERS AND HE COULD POSE A THREAT BY SUPPORTING AN OPPONENT!!!
Sly is smart and he wouldn't be above supporting a strong opponent with their sights set on the County top spot. It could be Cindy Circo . . . But hopefully it might be somebody smarter.
Let's not forget Missouri SOS Jason Kander is none too fond of The County Executive and his support along with Mayor Sly could push a potential candidate over the top.
Add into the mix . . . Victor Callahan is still quietly sitting atop a huge pile of cash, pension or not.
Behind the scenes all of this is starting to fall into place AND THE ONLY THING THAT'S CERTAIN IS THAT IF JACKSON COUNTY MIKE SANDERS RUNS FOR OFFICE AGAIN . . . HE WILL FACE A FORMIDABLE CHALLENGER!!!
It's not a question of if or when . . . Only who.
