Charges filed in murder Monday
An 18-year-old Kansas City woman faces Murder 1st Degree charges in connection with Monday’s fatal shooting of Karyia S. Edmondson, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Takydra S. West, 18 (DOB 9/24/1994) also faces an Armed Criminal Action charge.
According to court records filed today, West and her victim were inside the Bainbridge Apartment complex on East Armour Blvd. on Monday when witnesses observed West and her victim engaged in a fight. West choked the victim and placed a gun against her neck. But the victim resisted and West left. But she returned to the same apartment where West shot Edmondson with a handgun. West told witnesses “Ya better not snitch” and pointed a gun at them. West told a witness she shot her victim because Edmondson wanted to return items they had obtained during a robbery.
Prosecutors requested a cash bond of $500,000.
