Shut Down Todd Akin in Kansas City!
...because WE ARE LEGITIMATE!
Anti-violence advocates, women's rights, LGBTQIA, anti-racist and labor activists are coming together on September 28th from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Crown Center to protest Todd Akin's press conference in the Westin Hotel!
We will be gathering at Crown Center to protest how low Todd Akin can go in
the current race against Claire McCaskill for a Missouri Senate seat. Please bring posters and warm bodies to protest Todd Akin and let him know that WE WILL SHUT HIM DOWN!
This is a coordinated event incorporating voices from the labor movement, anti-sexual violence movement, anti-racism advocates, women's rights and queer advocacy against Todd Akin's campaign for senate. We invite you to let your voices be heard against Todd Akin THIS FRIDAY at CROWN CENTER from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
In order to make this protest a successful one, we need YOU to come out.
PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF THE LAW: We are only allowed to congregate on sidewalks at Crown Center. We can not block road access and we need to make sure everyone stays on the sidewalks for this event.
Guest speakers at this event will include Wick Thomas from EQUAL KC (https://www.facebook.com/EQUALKC) and Miranda Nichols from SafeWalk: A Walk of No Shame (https://www.facebook.com/SafeWalkAWalkOfNoShame) as well as labor and economic rights activists.
Come help us call out Todd Akin's cowardice THIS FRIDAY and let him know that Missourians will not elect a man whose platform is based on ignorance and intolerance!
You are also welcome to join us at the second protest happening at Chapel's in North Kansas City (off of Armour) at 12:30 p.m., where Todd Akin will be meeting with his constituents!
Let Kansas City voices be heard!
