TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! CURSE OF THE THIRD TERM!!! JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE SANDERS FACES A BEVY OF CHALLENGERS!!! WILL HE RUN?!?

Recently, talk of an upcoming election has been circulating through the grapevine of Kansas City politics.

To wit . . .

ALREADY THE NEXT RACE FOR JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE LOOKS TO BE A HOT MESS!!!

And this makes the next political move for Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders all the more interesting . . .

Let's take a glimpse at the contenders who are already coming up in a race where the campaign starts sooner than local politics think . . .

I've asked around and heard from insiders . . . Not for a second does anybody believe that Outgoing Missouri State Senator Victor Callahan is going to hang up his spurs and become a lobbyist. His war chest is HUGE and just like the current County Exec - His Eastern Jack support is strong . . . Probably stronger than Mike Sanders at this point. More importantly, Mr. Callahan isn't afraid of stepping on Democrat toes in a primary election fight. Like it or not, Mr. Callahan is the top contender for a Jackson County Executive Challenge.

County government has always been a starting point for outsiders and political neophytes to begin their election hopes . . . To wit, former Chiefs footballer Deron Cherry is not only active in politics and civic issues but his connection to The Chiefs would ease tensions over recent stadium spats. Let's not forget that time and time again JaxCo Exec Mike Sanders hasn't endeared himself to African-American political leadership in Jackson County. So, a strong cash connection and nearly a built in voting bloc makes might power Mr. Cheery into the local political arena.

Finally, most think Theresa Garza Ruiz will use her support in the Ward Parkway corridor and City Hall to make a run at the County Exec job. High name recognition and top level political connections could be her secret to success.

And then . . .

LET'S NOT FORGET THE JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE THIRD TERM CURSE!!!

Third terms have always proven disastrous in Jackson County. There are a lot of examples but the career of Katheryn Shields always stands out.

People forget that she had a great deal of momentum as a powerful, local political lady until a consistent string of bad press and a mortgage hot mess took her out of Kansas City's political scene. The career of Katheryn Shields confirms the Jackson County Executive Third Term Curse and might provide a reason for Mike Sanders to look elsewhere for his political future.

And so . . .

Congressman Cleaver doesn't look like he retiring anytime soon as some have suspected.

However . . . A Mike Sanders run for Missouri Attorney General as Current AG Chris Koster moves on is an option that's now gaining an increasing talk.

Whatever the case . . . We know that the JaxCo Third Term Curse and the likelihood of a great deal of competition should give County Exec Mike Sanders a moment of pause as he calcuates his next move.
