"In the story she did in July 2011 on my research on crime in KCMO Ms. Betsy Webster of KCTV 5 noted that in the past 15 years there have been an average of 42 more black homicides in KCMO than homicides of other races, but that after the Salva story broke this figure increased to 57 more black homicides than homicides of other races. This gaphas appeared, according to preliminary figures, to have grown in the past year. In calender year 2011 there were 62 more black homicides than homicides of other races, and in the first year of Mayor James administration (May 1, 2011-April 30, 2012) there were 70 more black homicides than homicides of other races. Right now in 2012, we are at 43 more black homicides than homicides of other races--and the calender year still has three months to run. Crime situation in the city's black neighborhoods appears to be deteriorating."
Now . . . Check KCPD Crime Stats which inform as that Kansas City currently counts 80 homicides so far this year as opposed to 84 at this time last year but TIED with our murder count from 2010.

DeleteThe other thing to note is that there are some cases where they officially haven't classified it as a homicide yet. Usually there are 3-5 cases like that, so the numbers are always just a little under. We are right there with last year with out a doubt

Black woman here. I tell you how you atop it. You get into the schools and revamp cirriculum to include instruction on making better choices in life. Tell them some things, no matter whether your parents or others you know do them, only leads to death, jail or life_long poverty.

Best way to shut up racists is to prove them wrong. Don't live down to stereotypes. Don't blame. Yes if someone discriminates, call it out, but don't let it stop you. Also make sure it is discrimination and not just an asshole. Also every slight doesn't matter and ain't about you.
Also black churches need to pushtwo parent homes and get real about the problems single parenthood causes regardless of who it ticks off.

ReplyDeleteWhite guy from the inner city here. I've gone through KCMO public schools my entire childhood. I'm not black, but every cultural influence in my life was.
There isn't such thing as a race behavior, there's only culturally learned behavior. The solution is to undermine a prevailing thought process among youth, and replace it with something more productive. This will require the help of parents and teachers. It will take a lot of work, as many young offenders learn behavior criminal family members and peers.
Having a job, being responsible, doing your homework and participating in class should not be classified as "acting white" it should be "acting normal" Once we change how students and teachers address just that one notion, things have the potential for change.
There is hope. People can change. We can't throw an entire community under the bus because a percentage of it act like idiots.
10% of the population account for 90% of the crime.
Read this: Criminological Theory: Past to Present by Robert Cullen and Robert Agnew. It will change any notion that race is the cause of crime.
I've lived with black neighbors and white neighbors and couldn't disagree more. The black ethic is just that, black. Their family structure, work attitudes and superior attitudes are the reasons they suck so bad. Fuck a bunch of NIGGERS.
