No Free Wi-Fi For Rosedale

A reality check for local politicos who haven't bothered to learn much about Google Fiber . . .

Google has turned down a Kansas City, Kan., neighborhood's plan to tap into the ultra-fast Internet connections promised by the Internet company and create a kind of Wi-Fi cooperative.

TKC Reminder . . . The Google Fiber blog is a better resource than politicos and biz consultants who who claim an understanding of the Internets.

  1. Google is a for profit company. They can not just give away their resources. The newspapers learned that when they put their content online for free.
I will be happy to sign up for a Time Warner cable alternative.

  2. I'm wondering if Google hasn't played an April Fools joke on KC. I'm neither seeing nor hearing of any progress or announcements on when or where service will be available, so I suspect Google's more of an "if" than a "when."

  3. You mean a major corporation pulling a fast one over on our very own electeds?
    How could that be?
