TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! TKC TALKS WITH MISSOURI SECRETARY OF STATE CANDIDATE MD ALAM AND EXECUTIVE MEMBERS OF THE MDPAAC!!!

Recently, I had an opportunity to talk with the executive members of the Missouri Democrat Party Asian American Caucus (MDPAAC). They're a growing political concern in Kansas City and Missouri State politics and one of the few local groups actively dedicated to developing new and diverse leadership in the Missouri Democratic Party.
From left to right, the photo featured above includes Shere Alam - Candidate for Missouri House Rep. District 30, Sherbaz Khan - Candidate for Missouri House Rep. District 32 and MD Alam - Currently running for Missouri Secretary Of State.
Most of the conversation focused on MD Alam and his enthusiasm to attain the MO Secretary Of State Job. In fact, Mr. Alam started the talk with an intense overview of his academic (he had multiple advanced degrees) and political qualifications. MD Alam is also a veteran of the war in Iraq.
Still, what interested me most was the enthusiasm of Mr. Alam and the MDPAAC for participation in the local political process at a time when Kansas City voter turnout is notoriously low. The mission of this new political group seems to be aimed at breaking down stereotypes that would prevent political engagement among immigrants and addressing the interests of this growing political concern.
"A lot of what I'm doing is aimed at teaching people about the 'new immigrant'" Mr. Alam said. "There are immigrants coming to this nation who possess a lot of skills, education and training. That is often overlooked. I want to encourage all people to become involved in politics and maybe break down a few stereotypes in the process."
Interesting fact I learned during the interview, Shere Alam (MD's bro) is quite accomplished in his native Bangladesh and might have easily won a political career in that country. However, it's politics in their new homeland that has really inspired the brothers.
Before the meeting I was talking with a veteran Kansas City political consultant and asked him about the group. He noted the quick progress of the MDPAAC, "They're already a group that you really HAVE to talk to when you're campaigning in South Kansas City. It's impressive to see the array of support that they've been able to galvanize in these smaller elections."
Media watchers might recognize MD Alam from his work on The Tony Singh Bill. MD was friends and neighbors with Singh and became a media liaison for Singh's family after the convenience store clerk was brutally gunned down. Since that time, Alam has worked tirelessly to promote the bill that would require more protection and security for clerks working late night shifts. The tragic death of Singh seems to have inspired even greater political involvement from MD.
"I'm inspired to become involved in politics because I want to help and teach people, that's what I do," Mr. Alam said. "My election to the Missouri Secretary Of State office would send a positive message that opportunity in this nation is limitless for anyone with the qualifications and willingness to work to achieve their goal.
MD Alam seems undaunted by the fact that his Democratic Primary opponent Jason Kander leads the race and has been described as the "cash king" in media outlets throughout the state. Instead, Alam seems to be thinking about his career in politics from a long term perspective.
Missouri House Candidate Sherbaz Khan shares Alam's enthusiasm, "I think was MD has done is help people to realize that we need to become involved in the political process if we want to have a voice. There's a tendency to let others go out and do the work for us. Instead, MD has encouraged me and a lot of other people become involved on a personal level to try and made the changes that we want to see."
MD needs to stop creating ten different campaign logos a day that are also ugly looking and focus on campaigning.
ReplyDeleteAlso for some fun times, look up his campaign videos. Crazy stuff!
The Jackson County Democratic Committee should not have disrespected MD by giving his opponent a speaking slot at Truman Days. Respect the election process, there is a Primary in August when Democrats get to vote. Kander should not have accepted the speaking slot out of respect for the public.

ReplyDeleteAre they running for office or casting for the next Slum Dog Millionaire?
ReplyDeleteIf these idiots are SO successful in their OWN COUNTRY, then why don't they go HOME??? This is MY country and I really don't give a fuck if they leave...
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna say it....
ReplyDeleteKHAN!!!!!!!
WOW!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see they put on their best dress for the photo... so they can be taken seriously.
If they vote for Obama. They're alright by me.
ReplyDeleteTo my friend: you know who wrote this...here it is

Tell me where did you came from? Are you British or Portugose or what? Or you are Native Indian? We have many idiots among us....how could you idiots forget the even our founding fathers were immigrants? Shame on you who just called people idiot. Look at you ...as fool as you can be and making yourself nothing but IDIOT..
And you may cuss all day..any way you want but you know what? That a confirm sign of idioicy.....fool.
Jason Kander is not a Jackson County Democratic Committeeman so why he is going to speak? Yet...MD Alam is the 26 ward Democratic Committeeman...wow...Jackson County Democrats what's a shame. Jason Kander is one of many state representative and even he is not an executive of state Government...so I dont understand what jason Kander has to do with jackson County Truman Day event? And you know Kander even dont attend any meetings at all.....so...it may not be a democratic sign to put Kander speaking at the Truman Day event.
ReplyDeleteYet..MD may ask to speak as a committeeman. People are too un-democratic, there are many good leaders in the Missouri Democratic Party and they know MD is a great leader, a great democrat and he will go far in the near future.
I will support MD, I will vote for MD as because I have known him as a family man not as a real politician. MD is a true Political Activist and he deserves way more that what you think.
MD keep up the hard work. It was good to see you other day at St. Louis. I met you at the St. Louis 8th Democratic ward.
Which one owns the bong store?
ReplyDeleteThey look like nice fellas, unless they are sitting next to you on a plane.
The main question is where is Jennifer Kellti they kept that hot piece of white trash around for ages, she was giving head to MD's donors in the hospitality suites of the Truman days.
ReplyDelete5/8/12 6:56 PM
ReplyDeleteYou are right. There should be a protest against the Saturday Night dinner if Jason is given the special advantage to speak when he faces a primary.
This decision was made by Steve Bough, who has given money to Republican candidates and other hate groups; including ANTI LGBT.
Progressives and others who believe in equality should boycott the dinner AND demand their money back, if Jason Kander is allowed to speak alone when he faces a Democratic opponent in the primary.
Consider it a picket line.
There should be protestors, and they should take pictures of those who cross the picket line and publish those photos on the Internet.
5/8/12 9:14 PM
ReplyDeleteHi Diana
What women have you been giving head to?
If there is a picket line set up by the Asian Caucus, I will not cross it.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe MD Alam can win, but the Democratic Party should stand up for Democratic values.
Featuring one candidate in the primary over another is not right.
Steve Bough should have to pay for the reprinting of the program if it has been printed with Jason Kander's name -- because the committee has a policy of not becoming involved in primary fights.
If the committee wants to be involved in primary fights, they should screen candidates, and not just endorse candidates that a chair picks.
Steve Bough would not do this if he did not believe that MD was a "Colored."
ReplyDeleteBough calls him self a "conservative Democrat," but George Wallace did the same thing.
Bough is a bigot and a moron, which is of course the same thing.
MDPAAC should put out the word and make this a national issue. GET SOME MEDIA!
ReplyDelete5/8/12 6:56 PM Please put out the word on this disrespectful action by the Jackson County Democratic Committee.
ReplyDeleteListen I support Mr. Bough and Mr. Kander. Look at the quote:
ReplyDelete"MD Alam is also a veteran of the war in Iraq."
Tony, DID YOU ASK WITCH SIDE HE WAS FIGHTING ON!!!!!!
WOGS like this crew pulled off 911 and should not be in this country. I would be ashamed of the Democrat party if it let scum like this talk.
Fight on Kander and Bough!

Hope you will find more about me. Thank you.
The exceedingly long comments posted above demonstrate that Mr. Alam and his crew are not very mature and do not have a chance in Hell of winning a election. Mr. Alam such displays make you look foolish.
ReplyDeleteThat said, it was wrong for Mr. Bough to act with contempt toward the electoral process and putting Mr. Kander on the program when he officially has a Democratic opponent in the primary. We have protocols for a reason, and Mr. Bough should not have violated those protocols.
Jackson County Democrat leadership is corrupt. Two years ago they were bashing Chris Morino for running Will Royster's campaign while all the same players helped steal the election for their "puppet" John Rizzo.
ReplyDeleteNow, are we surprised to see anything but obviously corrupt UN-Democratic actions from our party "leadership"?
I have no problem Mr. Kander Speaking at the Truman Dinner, however, Mr. Alam would also given opportunity to address the event. If Mr. Alam do not get to speak then Mr. Kander must not speak and that will violete the election process and it will create problems for Missouri Democrats. I hope Mr. Bough will make a right decision by either putting both Mr. Alam and Mr. Kander in the agenda or by taking Mr. Kander off the agenda.
ReplyDeleteTake Kander off. I really do not want to hear either of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat about let both of them speak? I really want to hear from both of them. Since Mr. Bough is the ultimate decision maker, then he can make it happen.
ReplyDeleteNo way. MD alam is a closet Republican.
ReplyDeleteMD Alam is definately the best DEMOCRAT. Have you know MD Alam is a DNC Member? You guys are funny !!!
ReplyDeleteDO I have to beleive that Jason Kander is Cash King like Capitalist? as closest to the right-wing?
Kander and Bough are not so closeted right wingers.
ReplyDelete
