TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! FORMER KANSAS CITY MAYOR DR. CHARLES WHEELER WILL RUN AS A WRITE-IN FOR THE KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD!!!
Kansas City Public Schools have a new contender for control. This candidate is truly a part of Kansas City history.
Check it:
SOME OF THE VERY BEST TKC TIPSTERS HAVE TOLD US THAT DR. CHARLES WHEELER WILL RUN AS A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE FOR THE KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD!!!
The Wikipedia page for Dr. Wheeler lists him at around 86 years-old.
To wit . . .
SOME FOLKS ASKED FOR A MAYORAL TAKEOVER OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND THIS LOOKS LIKE THE CLOSEST WE'LL GET IN KANSAS CITY!!!
Before you write-off Dr. Wheeler . . . Don't forget that current KCPS board member Arthur Benson was able to secure a seat with around 200 write-in signatures.
All over town there are groups getting together to work this write-in angle but Dr. Wheeler has the best name recognition by far.
I've spoken with Dr. Wheeler and heard him make presentations last year and he still has a very active mind. I fell asleep in Mayoral debates and I didn't see him doze off once. Dr. Wheeler is articulate, his sensibility is PURE Kansas City and his ideas are mostly mainstream and based on an incredible amount of reading he still does every day.
By contrast, I'm not exactly sure what former School Board Prez Airick L. West is dong right now . . .
There's talk that Mr. West might be putting together an at-large write-in campaign as well. It seems that indecision has been the trademark of his tenure as a public official.
Undoubtedly, Dr. Wheeler is a Kansas City legend and his candidacy is an important look at where we stand now in the discussion of local schools.
Mother of God.
ReplyDeleteIs he still alive
ReplyDeleteHaha, 6:04 said it before I could
ReplyDeletenigga PLEASE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAirwick West is a stupid, fucking nigger, with nothing else to do. No job, no prospects, just needs another platform for scamming and stealing...
ReplyDeleteoh please shut up n-word guy. You are nothing but white trash.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Doc!
It just never ends; the children in the KCPS are always in line behind the self-important egos and personalities pressing themselves on the public.
ReplyDeleteHere's a really uncomplicated idea: If you keep doing the wame things the same way and with the same people, you'll get the same results.
And the results for the KCPS for DECADES have been thousands of young people who have neither the education or skills necessary to support themselves and turn to the streets to survive.
Way past time to close the door on this fiasco, dissolve the district, and have the schools absorbed into surrounding districts.
Let's actually look after the young people for once.
Anonymous 6:11 and others like you. Why don't you post your name?
ReplyDeleteRegarding Mr. West's "indecision"? He said he didn't want to run again -- that doesn't stop other people from wanting him in office. In any case, things change from year to year, and a wise person takes all factors into consideration.
As far as I'm concerned, Mr. West is one of the few people who "get" what the district needs to do, and has worked harder than anyone I know to try to make the right things happen. And I've been working in, and watching this district, for thirty-five years.

You can tell how important people really think this issue is when you read that someone was elected to the board with only 200 votes.
ReplyDeleteThe folks who are REALLY interested in the district are the people who want to get their hands on the money, jobs, and contracts.
And they're atill the same folks who destroyed the district in the first place.
You'd recognize all the names.
I hate to agree with the negativity but you have a point. The district isn't getting any better and the only hope that I can see on the horizon is the state breaking it up and giving it to districts that are doing a good job.
ReplyDeleteOh yes lets why don't you put the clown who made a mess of the fire dept back in the 70's that far as I am concerned is still causing issues today.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who writes in his name should be tarred and feathered and run out of town.
Recognizing reality is not negativity. In fact wishing and hoping and having meetings for years with no results as generation after generation of young people reach maturity without any real chances of succeeding in the world is negligent and irresponsible.
ReplyDeleteSo do you have the guts to do what's right for the students? Or do you just keep running an operation which, as Dr. Covington said, "Is an employment agency instead of a school district"? There's plenty of public money sloshing around town. The grifters, deadbeats, and contractors will always find some elected official who can't say no. And at least the kids won't have to suffer for the sins of the adults.
You can't make this stuff up! It's hard to tell which is more laughable the antics in KC or Jeff
ReplyDeleteCity.
Look at Super Dave showing us that he knows about KC History.
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
What seat is he running for? There are 2 people on the ballot for Benson's district. Is Wheeler going to run at-large? Really? I think the scholars of the district deserve a lot more than this guy can give anymore. Who's next, Dr. Eddy? Let's get lots of old white guys to tell us what to do. SMH The District continues to improve despite what the flakes on this site say - those that know very little about reality. We should be so lucky to have Mr. West run again.
ReplyDeleteWhen district is dissolved in the next week or two, the election will be a another waste of taxpayer money.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason Wheeler runs for anything is the hope of securing a few more years credit on his government pension, since he did not save much during his working life.
ReplyDeleteAirick is chasing older white women like he always is.
Many people don't realize that about half of students in KC attend charter schools, public schools that are not run by KCPS.
ReplyDeleteIf the district is broken up, then charter schools will be caught in the crossfire.
Imagine you go to a good charter school, then the boundaries change, then you would be forced to leave an accredited school.
There is a problem with the KCMO schools? I must have been too boozed up to notice.
ReplyDeleteAs, snap.
ReplyDeleteWhat difference does it make if you put the district in somebody else's hands and the test scores don't count? The problem just goes away I guess. Demand that the scores count. Stop whining about the board.
ReplyDeleteWest was all talk and never about what mattered with regard to the best interest of the kids and the city, accreditation. They all need to focus on this one issue.
Currently Green is doing just that and very shortly KCPS is going to get a number of its accreditation points back. We don't need flashy plans and new/old personalities. We simply need to look at how we are being assessed and focus on reaching those goals in BOTH process and performance.
Depends on your definition of "good job". I dont think Benson qualifies, and he should not be re-elected. Airick is ineffective but harmless.
ReplyDeleteI respect Dr. Wheeler immensely, but he is not gonna be the answer.
What is the answer? I dont know, but if I were a parent in a neighboring district, I would throw a fit if the KCMOPSD children came into the district. \
They are not up to standard, and I know that is not their fault. But it is also not my children's fault, and they should not have to suffer.
There are neighboring districts that are right on the edge themselves. This could throw them over into problem districts as well.
I dont know the answer, but let's not let this cancer spread to other districts.
Hey "Christy"..fuck you.
ReplyDeleteWanna turn the KCPS schools around TODAY?
ReplyDeleteTie attendance, classroom behavior and grades to the receipt of public benefits, like public and low income housing, food stamps, etc.
If little Johnny and Janie (or Farshon and Uniqua) fail to go to school, act with some measure of civility, and at least try to learn something, then take away Mommy's benefits (and I say Mommy because most of these kids are being raised in homes with single female head of households).
I promise you there will be a renewed emphasis at home about how well those children are performing in school.
I thought KC wanted Jim Glover and Jason Kander to run everything with out regard for their record of poor performance?
ReplyDelete10:22 said it best. Dissolve the district and save the money spent on this election.
ReplyDeleteHow come he didn't have sense enough to file before the deadline?
ReplyDeleteAirick! Wha be da moneys?
ReplyDeleteHe'll probably withdraw the night before the election.
ReplyDeleteNancy Merrill Sayed ask Airick Leonard West where is the money that you old white bitches drained your savings accounts for? Airick is. Using the elections as a political come back have your groupies of low self esteem women dig up dirt on the candidates taking negative attention off you, while you are trying to move up to at large 3rd district city council. warning**Dr.Green, if you re serious about changing KCPS then get rid of Airick West, that's his plans for you.
ReplyDeleteWest told a little birdie , I will make a announcement March 1st, that I maybe running . West said he has the support of major business and also citizena were upset that he didn't rerun, after he stoled millions of dollars and walked away a free black man that screws old fat white hogsa!
ReplyDeleteI heahs he be trybin to get home skeweled by one of dem.
ReplyDelete@1:04
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that "you know" that it is not their fault. If it isn't their fault, if they never take responsibility for their actions, their children will do the same. The current situation proves this. These kids have access to more learning resources than any of us ever had. Their phones have access to every topic under the sun. The libraries are open to the public. If you take responsibility for your own learning, the success will be yours. Keep telling these kids its not their fault that they don't do their work and they will never do what it takes to succeed(attend class, act respectful to others, engage in the material).
cORRECTION, WeSt is making the big announcement MaRcH 3rd, he should have stolen enough money by than to run ads for his campaign.
ReplyDeleteCharlie Wheeler is a freaking fossil who should have retired 20 years or more ago. I used to be in meetings with him in the 80's and he couldn't stay awake back then. He's a doddering old fool, nice enough in his day, but even in the 70s he wasn't a good mayor. He probably won't be able to stay up late enough to attend the school board meetings.
ReplyDeleteCan we please elect someone with some sense, courtesy, decency and intelligence, who really cares about the students and their educations? Arthur Benson, YOU do not qualify!
Nancy Merrill Sayed ask Airick Leonard West where is the money 2/23/12 7:26 PM
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one! I am old, I'm white, and I AM a bitch, but you don't have the nerve to say who you are. I've never given, nor have I ever been asked for, a dime to Mr. West. I'm never been asked to help him develop a negative campaign against anyone. I contacted Mr. West after I saw a Pitch article about him, where I admired what he had to say. I told him what, in my opinion, we needed to do to improve the district, and he's done his best to try to make that happen.
What are you? Who are you? What have you done to help the district? Just curious...
