RON PAUL AT UNION STATION, THE WESTPORT THRE3STYLE DJ COMPETITION, BILL NIGRO, KANSAS CITY FOR SALE AND THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!!

It was an eventful night in Kansas City.
This cowtown totally took advantage of Global Warming making February so nice.
Anyhoo . . . For me that night started with a packed house at Union Station greeting Ron Paul.
Here's what I liked . . .
A FEW THOUSAND SUPPORTERS AT KANSAS CITY'S UNION STATION FOR RON PAUL AREN'T NEARLY AS VENGEFUL AS THE REST OF THE GOP ANGRY ABOUT A CHOICE AMONG PEOPLE THEY DON'T REALLY RESPECT!!!
Respect to Ron Paul . . . He's a pro. The acoustics in Union Station were horrible as usual so he cut down his speech to catchphrases about ending the Fed, The U.S. is "slipping into a fascist system" and a bunch of other very high minded ideals that'll never happen.

Crown Center lights . . . Kinda cool.
Then it was off to the Red Bull Thre3Style: Kansas City 2012. It was a DJ competition that was kinda cool if white people enjoying music that Black people pioneered 30 years ago is your thing.
Still . . . The good folks at Redbull made this an interesting marketing event and it was nice to see so many local performers shill for the caffeinated drink.
And then . . .
TKC WAS WALKING DOWN THE STREET AND HAD A NICE "DISCUSSION" WITH BILL NIGRO AS HE WORKED THE OLD AND BUSTED INTEREST FREE LOAN KANSAS CITY STRIP TROLLEY!!!
He argued that his trolly was a public service to Kansas City.
I responded that the SWEET INTEREST FREE LOAN was a shameful bit of privilege that doesn't really help anybody but the petty bourgeoisie bar owning class.
An employee of Bill George reminded me that they create jobs . . . I was in a rush and I forgot to mention that I've never seen a person of color employed by the KC Strip Trolly . . .
Still . . . BILL NIGRO GAVE US A BIT OF A TKC EXCLUSIVE AND TOLD US THAT THE STAR IS SOON TO PUBLISH AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE KC STRIP PAYING THEIR (INTEREST FREE) LOAN BACK TO KANSAS CITY!!!
I still think they're going bankrupt because while I was arguing with Mr. Nigro there was a trolley with a grand total of 4 people stepping off at around 10 in the PM . . . But, I'll reserve judgement until I read more PR from our paper of record.
Tonight's conclusion . . .
I don't know if the economy is getting better (it's not) BUT EVERYBODY IN KANSAS CITY HAS SOMETHING TO SELL!!!
Whether it's hustling votes, pushing energy drinks, or taxpayer subsidized schemes . . . Tonight, everybody in Kansas City was busy making their pitch.
And all of this has inspired tonight's playlist . . .
As always, thank you for reading and have a safe and fun weekend.
I like the Crown Center photo at least.
ReplyDeleteOh 2k at Ron Paul at best and they heard all that they needed to her.
ReplyDeleteNOTHING
agree
ReplyDeletePay down the loan or pay it back?
ReplyDeleteNo ones ever doubted George and Nigro would pay it back, their politics would tank if they didn't. White guys don't get a pass for stiffing the city.
It's the interest free part that sucks and why didn't George and Nigro "self proclaimed geniuses and finanacial barons" provide the financing themselves.
Tony's count of "4 riders" is about average even with the Bill's constantly talking big numbers to applaud themselves.
They may pay off the loan, but certainly not with money from the drunk trolley. It's probably coming from the taxi business.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, white guys stiff KCMO all the time. Just look at the P&L District!
First of all, you ignorant bum, Ron Paul did not cut his speech down -- he talks like that all the time. All the man has is short zinger lines that hides his true aim: to establish a White-oligarchy. If you think that the unregulated PayDay Loan sector in Missouri is the model for a just soceity Tony, then you will love Ron Paul's world. By the way, according to Ron Paul there IS no global warming you mental gopher.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Paul chose to be here rather than in Maine where he was losing a caucus to Romney.
ReplyDeleteThese people look like a Star Trek Convention.
They have Santorum's dust all all over them.
Bunch of red necks
ReplyDeleteIve never seen a white person working at Harold Penners or the Parks Dept., whats your point with the lame race baiting line about the trolley?
ReplyDeleteThe confidence-man's most basic tool is to create the surface sheen of success with minimal investment of time and capital. Thus the con-man buys a couple of designer suits, rents a cubbyhole office with a prestigious address, leases a 500-series Mercedes vehicle, counterfeits some diplomas or other signifiers of Elite status and achievement, and then goes to work conning his credulous marks.
ReplyDeleteAsshats all.
ReplyDeleteTony is a soft touch for con artists.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget that in '07, Tony blogged about how wonderful Funkhouser would be after the "Orange Revolution."
ReplyDeleteTracy Ward is looking pretty old.
ReplyDelete9:07 is dead on.
ReplyDeleteI don't see enough white NBA players. There is a ton of money being made by only black players in the NBA and all professional sports.
We need Affirmative Action to even the playing field.
Linsanity, Wes Welker, Jordy Nelson and I are all gonna sing "We Shall Overcome" on the way to our mailboxes.
A reflection of the actual population with reference to ehniciity on NBA teams would mean that 60% of the team should be white, 10% Hispanic and 20% Black.
I know, that the Federal Government and Eric "My People" Holder will not let this unjustice continue.
NO JUSTICE!!! NO NBA!!!
NO JUSTICE!!! NO NBA!!!
NO JUSTICE!!! NO NBA!!!
Fuckin Kobe would do a really good job workin for Nigro on the Trolley.
"Ticket mam?"
Trillions, I mean TRILLIONS of dolars spent over the last 50 years to level the playing field, yet in the most HIGH PROFILE jobs in America, their is a double standard that reflects the truth.
White people don't count.
Well funny Tracy Ward is all about free speech and supports Ron Paul and so forth but her idea of free speech is the kind that goes with her way of thinking. She is now deleting any comments on her facebook page that just might not be all for her pet projects. Thats the kind of stuff that for sure will never get you elected and makes people such as myself make sure people like Ron Paul stay at the bottom of the possible list.
ReplyDeleteMan if I had known Tony was going to go one on one with Nigro I would have skipped Ron Paul and the pink haired lady running amuck and gone seen the pink hair dude whine about how he is getting fucked all the time
ReplyDeleteNigro's cred is shot. No one believes him any more and his association with "Billy the Bully" George hasn't helped. And they better pay that fucking $ back.
ReplyDeleteIRONY ALERT!
ReplyDeleteThe same people slamming a presidential candidate (or Tracey Ward), both of whom actually support placing some limits on government power are simultaneously slamming our local government for wasting money on a stupid government subsidy!
For extra irony, the same people slamming Ron Paul as racist are simultaneously slamming the stupid government subsidy as racist!
Hilarious. You guys deserve the government you have.
@2:31
ReplyDeleteRon Paul so far has not done squat to help America other than to vote no all the time. I have heard what he has to say along with all the others running for office and none of them have a clue.
Till the overall political field arena as a whole is fixed it will always be jacked up. Too many Ron Paul followers all think if he gets in office everything will turn to peaches and cream and it will rain gold all the time and that won't happen.
I could see last night the Ron Paul followers all standing there with glazed eyes thinking the eighth wonder of the world was in KC. I as well could see those who were there just to be there and was talking about where to go afterwards instead of listening to what was being said.
When it comes time to elect people to office honest workers don’t seek office. Good people who could make it work don’t run for office either. Why should they? There is more money to be made in the private sector with less headaches and not feeling like they are at work 24/7. So we are stuck with those who are glory seekers and have personal agendas along for the ride and to see what the job of holding political office can do for them. Nobody in office cares about you or me anymore it’s all about them. If we could put the right people in office we would see lower taxes we would see better things for America as a whole because our elected officials would be working for America and not themselves. If America was run like most of us run the company’s we work for or own we would have a better country.
Funny - Ron Paul people all meeting in a building that would be gone, if not for massive government spending to save it.
ReplyDeleteExcellent point.
ReplyDelete@ Super Dave, I think Ron Paul would argue that no, our problems will not be solved by putting the "right people" in office. He would argue that the problem has more to do with the nature of our current government system, which attracts the wrong people. The people running KC are a problem, for sure, but you won't attract better people until you change the system.
ReplyDeleteTake Sly James. Seems to be a good guy, a much better guy than Funk. Yet even as the KCMO school district is literally being abolished by the state, even as the homicide rate is out of control, even as KCMO's sewers crumble, he's fully supporting a $100 million toy train that KC cannot pay for and no one will ride. Why is that?
I (and I think Ron Paul would) argue that it's the system. If KCMO's government is able to ignore crime and education but it can screw around with Green Zone funding or whatever and as long as individual politicians are able to personally enrich themselves at the expense of the public, where's the incentive to govern better?
Take Obama. Why is he sending drones all over the world, bailing out Goldman Sachs, keeping Guantanamo open, and authorizing federal raids of medical marijauna providers? Just 3 years ago everyone under 30 thought he was the second coming of Christ, even an improvement on Christ. But even Obama isn't bigger than the system. So we're still bombing the hell out of people in Asia, helping out GS, and criminalizing citizens at home.
Libertarians like Ron Paul don't have all the answers, but I think they have a point that maybe our governments (particularly the federal government) has a little too much power.
KC is turning into Detroit, Jr., but most of its citizens and commenters on this blog cannot imagine a different political idea here. Maybe unwavering support of the KC Democratic machine and reflexive dislike for its opponents isn't the answer to KC's problems.
Sorry for the length. Yikes.
Half of the drivers for the Trolley are Black. You are an idiot Tony.
ReplyDeleteRon paul rocked KC! I agree that he used a lot of his cliches and famous lines but thats what you get with him - consistency. Not fancy speeches full of empty promises. If you want that junk, vote for Obama, Romney, Gingrich or Santorum. You can't compare Paul to any other politician when he has a proven record 30 yrs long. (Of consistency with the Constitution)
