MERRILL DEPARTS KMBZ FOR SAN DIEGO
It's a good move for a Conservative who was a lot more thoughtful and had a broader perspective than most reactionaries around this cowtown.
We're hoping that our homegirl Darla Jaye moves into his space but more than anything we're glad to see a Kansas City talker meet with success and grateful for all the mentions he gave TKC on his show.

This would be the biggest loss to KC radio, since Mike Murphy retired. It sucks but more power to him..
ReplyDeleteIt's especially gratifying to see the Republicans sail off the edge of their own flat earth on the winds of religious idiocy. For forty years it has not been enough for them to just be a conservative party. They had to enlist the worst elements of ignorance and reaction, and they found an endless supply of it.

ReplyDeleteI haven't listened to KMBZ much during that time slot ever since Merrill came on the scene. I find him stupid and vile.
ReplyDeleteShanin and Parks was terrible, but Dana and Parks is even worse.
A decent talk radio station would probably do well here. Too bad we don't have one.
Unless KMBZ changes, I think it is going to fade away fast.
P.S. All any of them, including Darla, do is talk about the most sensationalistic story they read in The Star that morning. Or if that fails, some presumed atrocity they witnessed while driving to work.
ReplyDeleteShow prep is nil, and none of them ever have knowledgeable guests on who could explain the issues they only rant about.
Darla is the best of the lot, but she's not that great. Shanin and Parks consistently insulted their listeners, and Merrill and Dana and Parks are just obscene.
On the commercials, Merrill says he lost 75 lb. He must have been a real lardo.
