SKETCHY WOODSIDE VILLAGE LUXURY CONDO DEVELOPMENT STAYS WINNING AMID A GLOBAL ECONOMY IN DECLINE!!!

I could be wrong. Maybe luxury condos in a suburban neighborhood developed by some rich dude are the new hotness.

Either way . . .

A LOT OF PEOPLE DIDN'T LIKE THE WAY THE WOODSIDE VILLAGE DEAL DEVELOPED!!!

Even better . . .

KANSAS CITY BLOGGER LUCAS OFFERED SOME OF THE MOST IN-DEPTH LOCAL REPORTING ON THE TOPIC!!!

Check his latest post . . .

See you at The Village

Here's the money quote:

"What I learned in this little civics lesson is that Government in America — even at the neighborhood level — is essentially a collusion with a smorgasboard of private entities. They make deals and decisions in their own best interests, then do their best to market those benefits to the people they’re elected to represent. Following the numbers on this one isn’t likely to expose anything nefarious, but you will learn a lot about how these kinds of deals take shape."

For me, this passage sums up life in the United States amid the Global Recession and this election year.

  1. I wonder if the statewide building code being snuck through in HB 1291and SB 651 will improve KC building standards or dumb them down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S25LS5r5UJ0

  2. Westwood needs to redevelop the east of rainbow south of the club starting with zoning regulations. There are shacks and bad landlords next to white elephants. It's an eyesore and really terrible planning. How did this happen? Structures on way to small footprints dwarfing neighbors.

  3. Westwood is rental property capital of Johnson county. Wont happen in another city in the county. I agree with 8:34. Good bye to the neighborhood grocery until rainbow to mission is re done. That is what i would concentrate on with tax dollars.
