Lewellen Brothers Start The Kansas City Chocolate Ale Frenzy Tonight!!!

They start tapping Boulevard's Chocolate Ale tonight in Kansas City.

I noticed a trend on the KC Beer Blog's Tapping List . . . Hehe, I thought I was the only one with a tapping list . . . Sadly, I didn't notice any supermodels in his writing.

KANSAS CITY'S LEWELLEN BROTHERS SCORE A HUGE WIN BY OFFERING CHOCOLATE ALE BEFORE ANYBODY ELSE!!!

They're tapping a Chocolate Ale keg at Lew's for lunch.

And Chocolate Ale is on tap NOW @ The Waldo Well!!!

The victory is well deserved for two of Kansas City's favorite sons and another great example of a local small biz win.

  1. The Lewellen brothers are good guys but, if they haven't already, they really need to consider selling their interest in the partnership that owns the real estate where the controversial pawn shop on Troost operates.

Or better yet, keep the property but terminate the lease.

  4. The first in K.C. but not the first.

Choco ale has been out for two weeks in the rest of the country.

Just got an email from my local Hy-Vee that says they'll have it tomorrow for $10.99 a bottle.

  5. I can't believe that people go to Lew's and the Well. The owners treat the employees like shit, and are just plain bad people. Not to mention fat old creeps. Ask any employee that works for them. Really. Ask any of them after work. Also, food sucks, overpriced, and going to the Well is like sucking on a sewer and a city bus. Gross.

  6. I am disgusted by that Pawn store at 63rd and Troost. Now that I know they own interest in the property I will never return to their businesses and will tell others to do the same.

  7. 1:20 & 3:37--

What is your problem with the pawn shop on Troost? You do realize there's been one down the street at 63rd and Paseo for years now right? No beef with that one though I guess because it wasn't sexy enough of a story to make it into the news.

Seriously, the pawn shop "controversy" is old news. Shouldn't have been "news" in the first place (a pawn shop in the ghetto--weird). Find a new bandwagon to jump on.

  8. That Chocolate Ale is gross!

  9. I don't have a problem with it, but apparently some of the neighbors do.

Seems to me that part of being civic-minded is to be open and responsive to the interests and concerns of others.

Especially when you take public tax dollars to establish and promote your business.

  10. Save your money and get an oatmeal stout or get a chocolate wine. The wine is better than the chocolate beer

  11. Your wrong on they are the first. Gov.Stumpy's right down the street in Waldo had it tonight also and had a pretty good crowd in drinking it.

  12. Somebody fed you wrong information. The Gaf in Waldo had it today also. Brothers must have wanted some free publicity. Should make a correction on your story.

  13. The funny thing is that people who normally don't drink beer think that they will love it because it says "Chocolate" and "Christopher Elbow" on the bottle. The people who normally don't drink beer, or at least craft beer like this, get let down because it actually is beer and not rich creamy chocolate. It's really more suited for the beer geeks.

  14. I shit in your beer.1/30/12, 10:00 PM

@9:01 - The Gaf doesn't count because they have no class and nobody wants to drink their warm beer piss with a bunch of Johnson County insurance salesman. Tony did the right thing by only listing the real KC places where people would actually bother to drink.
