Kansas City Homeless Camp Crackdown

KMBC reports on hobo hijinks other than Occupy KC: "After almost a year, people living in a Kansas City homeless camp get an eviction notice from the city."

  1. The city is opening themselves up for the mother of all lawsuits by letting the Occupy KC people camp on city property without a permit. Year after year the city cleans out these homeless camps and sometimes charges them for unlawful camping and dumping. I'm really surprised that a local defense attorney hasn't jumped on one of these stories about filing a lawsuit against the city for unequal treatment under the law. The Occupy group can camp, burn, defecate outside, and do god knows what there, but the city not allowing the homeless to camp without a permit isn't equal justice. Ill be the first to say that I agree with the city clearing out these camps. There are plenty of resources throughout the city for the homeless that many "choose" not to take advantage of because they want to live by their own rules on the streets rather than abide by societys rules and laws.

  2. There's still quite a group under the Oak Street Bridge at Hospital Hill. And a ton of litter. I feel for the homeless who choose to stay away from shelters(for various reasons, most good). Let them stay. They are humans. They mean no harm, and do no harm--or little. The true harm to our city is done by the banks who rob us, foreclose on us; the shelters who refuse pets; the people who hate other humans....

  3. Well get ready for more.
Our Mayor and City council plan to raise our Taxes.
    How's that E-Tax taste now?
The Mayor going to Tax our asses off.

  4. Hey, 6:33, if you think the trash litter and "open dumping" (shitting in the bushes) done by the homeless is harmless, try reading an historic novel about e bubonic plague. Then check the rates of infectious disease like hepatitis among the homeless.

And if you still think they're harmless, then go clean on a clean-up trip or two and if you're still unconvinced, I got a great part-time job for cleaning up after them in my neighborhood.

  5. 6:33, do they have wifi at the occupy camp, because based on your post, I'm pretty sure you might be drunk on the kool-aid.

Mean no harm, yet are responsible for all the car break ins, buying drugs, pissing and shitting everywhere and a host of other problems.

Take your blinders off dopey. They are a problem.
