FORMER KANSAS CITY BLACK PANTHER PETE O'NEAL UNDERGOES AN AMAZING AFRICAN EXILE REDEMPTION!!!

Thanks to one of the most thoughtful TKC Readers for recognizing the connection to this story of redemption reported by the LA Times:

Former Black Panther patches together purpose in Africa exile

Yes, Pete O'Neal had some kind of gun charge back in the states. The Wall Street Journal notes he's a "distant relative" of KC Congressman Emanuel Cleaver.

But what's interesting to me is that throughout a life journey that has taken him across two continents and through a great deal of trouble, his days in KC always help to define him . . . No matter what your demographic or political beliefs - This fact is a blessing and a curse that every Kansas City resident bears.

  1. I remember him from the late 60's and 70's. He was one scary dude, and unfortunately he influenced a lot of real stupid young men to do what he would not do. They ended up going to prison.
Redemption? Well, I hope so. But I think the jury is still out. Just because you get old and frail, that doesn't mean that you are not still evil.
I think that it is great that he is helping poor little African children, but I am glad he is not here anymore. And I would be against him coming back
I know, I know, I am politically incorrect. But I remember.

  4. O'Neal is a criminal, racist asshole.THAT is what 'defines' him.

Going back where he belonged is the best example he ever set. His downtrodden people should follow it with vigor.

  5. O'Neal wouldn't last a week on the east side these days. And he'd be seen for the loud mouth wuss that he really is.
Dare him to come to KC and try to become the big dog!

  6. I worked with Pete and his brother, we worked for the Shapiro's of Broadway Ambassador Hotel fame. Pete was a great influence to me, he taught me what principle meant. Something people need to stand on at times, sorry more people aren't people of principle.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to the US wouldn't be complete without a sit down with Louis Farrakhan and the head of the Black Panther Party.

Terrorist pieces of shit always enjoy a tete a tete over some freshly spilt blood and stories of same.

    Up the revolution!!!!

  13. Pete is a criminal on the run. Just because he is helping children doesn't mean his gun charge was invalid. He refused to be held accountable for his deeds. For god's sake, he plunged a butcher into a fellow Navy sailor's chest because he was mad. And he has zero remorse for his criminal behavior, therefore he has not been rehabilitated. Stay in Tanzania, Pete. You're a thug and a criminal and not wanted here.

  20. I visited the remarkable organization run by Pete and his wife, Charlotte, when I was in Africa. It's a tremendous boon to all the communities it serves. Would that we all could accomplish something so productive.
