  1. Wow! Looks like Local 42 finally had a chance to earn their unreasonably large pay raises (average of 15%) by actually fighting a fire. What was this, the sixth or seventh real fire this year?!? Ten, eleven or twelve? How many? As a taxpayer, I want to know whether Local 42 actually earned those raises.

  2. Something else to cheer about here in Tony Land.

    HERO AWESOME!

  5. Pictures of parked fire trucks. Meh. Eric is getting lazy. He should've had his own helicopter by now. Yawn

  7. Don't you realize that firefighters pay taxes as well. Where you get your info on 15 % raises is beyond me. They barely received the 3 % that they were promised 3 years ago. That averages out to about 7 dollars a pay period. Wow! What a lavish raise. Get your facts straight and quit bitching about people who have saved 3 of my family members lives. What line of work are you in? If you don't have the balls to be a firefighter, then quit bitching about them. Since you are such a big tax payer, why don't you find out what you actually pay. You may be surprised to find out it ain't shit.

    ReplyDelete
  8. 3:07, you know NOTHING about math.

for a 3% raise to be "7 dollars a pay period", that would mean that a firefighter is only being paid $233 per pay period, or $6061 per year (there are 26 pay periods).

Do you honestly think they are only getting paid $6061 per year.

Go back to school and learn some basic math.

  9. @ 3:07 - Nice try fireman! You and your union buddies can try to deny the unreasonable size of your pay increases, but your union antics have already been revealed by the City's Budget Officer, Mr. Mark Thoma-Perry, a man of the highest integrity. Rest assured, this did not go unnoticed by the taxpayers. So, you can continue to claim a status of heroes, but your union antics have already revealed you to be nothing more than a group of zeroes!

    KANSAS CITY STAR
    AUGUST 24, 2011 ET

Last month, the city agreed to provide raises to fire fighters that will average 15 and 16 percent.

Fire fighters at the top of their pay scale will get 8 percent raises, and newer fire fighters will get close to 30 percent, said Mark Thoma-Perry, the city’s acting budget officer. The raises were part of a three-year wage contract between the city and the fire union. They include two step increases and three cost-of-living increases.

City employees with Local 500 are also set to get a minimum of 5 per¬cent raises — 2 percent on their anniversary date and a 3 percent cost-of-living increase, Thoma-Perry said.

  10. Who gives a shit what the firefighters make. I make more than them and I'm not in a union. Some work their asses off and some don't. I chose my profession and you chose yours. I could have been a fireman but decided to make real money. So many people on here bitch about firemen getting paid "so" much money. I'm sure it's always the ones that tried to be firemen but got passed over because they were complete idiots. Get a life and quit messing with other people's income and way of life. They have families to support as well as anybody else. I have firemen buddies from Lenexa who would love to come work for KCFD and they make way more than them and they don't do shit. I wouldn't want people messing with my income and I work for a corporation. Leave them alone you pussy bed wetting whiners. Maybe some of them are worthless but I'm sure a majority of them are hard working folks who deserve what they were promised from a messed up city council. I pay taxes also! Like the other person said, it's peanuts what we pay for firemen salaries. You sound like a bunch of Obama liberal tree huggers who walk around with shit sacks as their dog dumps in someone's yard. Get a life dickheads!

  11. Join a union if you want your secure way of life. Or, sit back and hate your job while someone at the top strings you along like a hand puppet. Yes, I am a fireman and the 40,000 that I made this year really makes me want to go buy that 500,000 dollar house that I want and the brand new corvette. I have the luxury of working 3 jobs because I can. I love what I do and don't bitch about how much money I don't make. I chose this way Of life and it makes my kids proud that I am a firefighter. My kid loves it when I bring my firetruck to their school. Some people who work behind a desk or computer don't have that privilege. Union strong and proud,,,,

  12. 3:07 typical Fire fighter groupie LOL They didnt save your families lives totally they just had a small hand in a very large chain of people who saved your families lives.

  13. It's funny, after 911, firemen were all heroes and deserved anything that was promised to them. Now when they want more pay, people moan and groan and say they or I should say we get way to much money. 50% or more of firemen work 2 jobs to make ends meet. A single fireman may make some good money but a fireman with a family doesn't make squat. I guess it takes a major disaster to have people like firemen. It just goes to show how much hate and selfishness this city has. Hopefully you all have a better perspective after the next major tragedy happens and god forbid something happens to one of us. Until then, wishing everyone a Happy New Year and stop the hate.

  14. 4:27 - You work for a corporation do ya? what, as the janitor? The way you talk sounds like you work in the mail room idiot, you must have family in the fire service and you must be soooo proud, and I really doubt anyone from Lenexa FD would want to work for KCFD, and if they did, they would work there! Monkeys get hired at KCFD, and they get hired by old school KCFD monkeys - no intelligence required.

  16. 4:38, you are an idiot. I was there when they did CPR on my grandmother and shocked her heart. I was there when she took a gasp of air after she was dead for 3 minutes. She was not at a hospital and there was not an ambulance there yet. 2 firemen saved her life with CPR and she is alive today. We visit them every Christmas just to wish them well. They didn't expect anything in return, they just did their job. The fire department also helped in pulling my niece from a swimming pool after drowning. She is here as well. Don't tell me they were part of a chain. They were the main link if they were a part of a chain. God bless them and they are forever in my families hearts. One day it will happen to you or someone in your family and you will see what I mean. The firemen will be there first and I dare you to not open the door for them.

  18. 4:27 is a disgruntled former MAST employee who is mad at the world because he/she didn't get the bid they wanted. Get a job you fat fuck and quit wanting something for nothing. McDonalds is always hiring but you are to fucking stupid to apply for a job. Welfare hound

  19. 4:40 lets not forget ALL the other services and people that responded to 911 - Lets not forget the Dr's and Nurses that worked their asses off to help save lives (never heard so much about them now did we!) How about the mechanics that made sure the emergency vehicles arrived to the scene, or the dispatchers, or or the persons who stocked and cleaned the units that responded making sure everything needed was on board and the list goes on and on, but the interesting thing is the Fire Service LOVES to take all the credit in a disaster, or fire or emergency response, why not try and be more humble and understand that not one service alone can save a life, you may pull someone out of a burning building and yes thats great, but can you do the skin grafts and surgeries that keep the patient alive after you do get them out? I didnt think so! The real HEROS are the ones who just do what they do and are secure enough in what they do to not expect attention, or praise, they just do it. The fire service has always wanted to be upfront claiming all the glory, but what they dont realize is how arrogant and ignorant they look to the people who get the the big picture!! When is the last time you saw a DR or a Nurse wear a tee shirt out in public that states what they do for a living? Get the drift?

  20. 4:55 Who posted at 4:27 I can't find that post!

  21. Well 4:50 glad they shocked your grandma and she woke up, then what? did they take her back to the station for BBQ ribs, all because she was A-OK because fire saved the day? Or did the medics take her to a hospital to receive cardiac care by a cardiology team and expert hospital staff? just asking If fire can do it all in the field and all by themselves and if so, well then you might be right just possibly they are heros.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 4:50 I wouldnt open the door for them, they would probably hit on my wife while she was in cardiac arrest! no bananas in this house!! monkeys belong at the zoo not providing a substandard service for the taxpayers on the tax payers dime!!

  23. 4:40 is so obviously a proud member of Local 42!!!

  25. I believe 4:40 said he or she was a fireman. At least they have the nuts to say they were. Make sure when all you fire haters has an emergency, remember not to allow the firemen to help you. Do it yourself you ungrateful jackoffs. More power to local 42 because of people like you. Sit in front of your computer and masturbate to midget porn and dream about being a firefighter. I'm sure your wife really likes your office job while you jack off to Mary at the copy machine! Go get your boss some coffee fuck stick!

  26. Privatize MAST again, and improve the ambulance service response times to acceptable levels. Fire all members of Local 42 and make KCFD a totally volunteer fire department like so many others in the country, which will save the taxpayers millions of dollars!

Let them threaten a strike during the next budget process. In this economy, people will line up for jobs as fire fighters, even if they aren't part of a union. I say let the bastards walk!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hell privatize the water dept too they are the FD lazy sister!! As far a MAST goes what they were doing was working the city love to break shit for political gain, against the best interest of the voters who put them there, people need to do research of the back grounds of the candidates for office before voting.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 7:01 why would anyone have too be grateful for someone doing a job they are paid to do??? Now if they were a volunteer taking unpaid time out of their day to help I could see someone being grateful. What is your definition of gratefulness? seriously?

    ReplyDelete
  29. 5:10 if Fire can save lives in the field all on their own we wouldn't need ambulances and DRs or hospitals...its a hero thing, its all in their head, they left the city hanging back in the 80's when they went on strike, started fires that the police had to put out, and tampered with the equipment while they were trying to put the fires out, which motivated the mayor at the time to instill a shoot to kill for obstruction order. fire fighters are girls, they whine, they bitch, and have a monthly period which funny as it seems falls on union meeting night!

    ReplyDelete
  30. 7:01 did your firehouse cook burn your food again you seem hostile. and the reflection defection you portray lets all of us know that you are into man midget porn and masturbate in front of your computer, you are a nasty dude!!!!

  32. So, this church is a 706 Westport, and there's a fire station at 550 W. 43rd Street. Yet, the church is a total loss. Bang up job by Local 42. KCFD Mission Statement: "To protect and serve our community with commitment and dedication to excellence." Where was the "excellence" putting out this fire?!? Talk about EPIC FAIL!!!
