Credit where it's due . . . Fox 4 did an excellent job with recent salary reporting in Jackson County Government. They had to work with quotes that were pretty much propaganda BUT they put some REALLY AWESOME information out there that has been creating a stir among insiders @ The County.
2011 salaries that earned a lot of attention . . .
Around $128k for Calvin Williford
Around $137k for Fred Siems
Around $130k for Shelley Temple-Kneuvean
Again, Fox 4 did a great job taking apart the story about car bonuses but a JACKSON COUNTY INSIDER noticed something remarkable.
THESE TOP LEVEL JACKSON COUNTY EMPLOYEES EARN MORE THAN GOV. JAY NIXON TAKES HOME FROM THE STATE OF MISSOURI!!!
According to a Missouri website . . . Gov. Jay only took home a little more than $117k from The Show-Me State.
"Mike is a skilled politician, I don't begrudge him that. But it's a case of the County Executive trumpeting his own pay cut without noting the exorbitant salaries among his top level staff," The Jackson County Insider said.
While, I'm sure these top level JaxCo employees do important work . . . They don't have the same level of responsibility as Gov. Jay . . . And while The Jackson County Executive has made some VERY SIGNIFICANT CUTS among lower level staff and programs for the homeless . . . Some of the most knowledgeable people at the County think that the savings that is so frequently touted needs to be put into perspective.
