TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY WATER INFRASTRUCTURE FAIL TURNS ICY AND DANGEROUS AS THE WEATHER GETS COLD!!!
Kelly Brook and her busty smile goodness illustrates a very big Kansas City problem that will become even worse as the weather turns cold . . .
CHECK THIS E-MAIL FROM AN AWESOME TKC TIPSTER DECRYING OLD AND BUSTED KANSAS CITY WATER INFRASTRUCTURE NOW TURNED ICY!!!
It's a common situation that seems to be growing worse while City Hall focuses on other priorities . . .
Water Leak Near 74th & Oak
"There has been a water leak near 74th & Oak for weeks if not months. This morning the water turned to ice. It is November, after all, and it does get cold this time of the year. Every year.
"In many cases, I'm told, the city denies responsibility for any accidents that happen if the city is not notified of a problem. This, guys, is a problem.
Having just received my property tax bill and having recently read that the city gave $15 million to developers for not developing the Citadel area and that the city spent $72,000 to track the comings and goings of a judge in an effort to enforce a residency requirement that is at best vague and ambiguous, I'm sure the city can come up with the money to fix this leak before someone gets hurt."

It hasn't turned cold enough to effect the pipes -- yet.
ReplyDeleteThe near-drought has done more to destabilize the earth around water & sewer (& oil & gas pipelines) than the temperature.
But Shitty Council and the Mare will git 'er done...
Won't get fixed until election time.
ReplyDeleteWater and sewers are too important to leave in the hands of a broken down city water department. The system is crumbling and nobody will care until it is too late. Unfortunately, it is like the school system in that it will apparently have to get worse before it gets better.
ReplyDelete40years of deferred maintenance will do that.
ReplyDeleteJim Mellem is the manager of the Pipeline crews at the water department. I suggest you complain directly to the city council person in your district.
ReplyDelete6:06: I complain to everybody. Ask anyone.
ReplyDeleteDon't believe this is only at 74&Oak. There was a leak for YEARS out on 40 Hiway that finally is fixed. Many years later.
ReplyDeleteBut...
to offset that, there is now a leak at the bottom of that hill (31st&Van Brunt) that has been going for months.
Only one you say, nay...how about Truman and Indianna. Ah, but you say it's been worked on...well, yeah it has...and now it's WORSE! AND we have a steel plate to contend with.
To coin a phrase..."Kansas City Progress".
This leak at 74th and Oak has been referred to in the comments of this blog several times in the past few weeks if not months. Every time the water department was mentioned I have seen a comment on that location.
ReplyDeleteTry Independence Avenue and Charlotte. It's an off-set intersection at the bottom of a hill and you can't see the traffic light until you're right up on it.
ReplyDeleteThere wasn't any problem there until this fall when contractors tore up the street and sidewalk to install the new traffic light and broke the water line.
Been leaking like a sieve ever since. Ices up nicely, too. The City's been notified but it's "not a priority".
Bet that changes once someone is killed or a truck rumbles through the park or the Don Bosco center.
Love the tag, Tony. It has really been coming in handy.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't the water department have a department director and new management? Who is to blame for this?
ReplyDeletewhy doesn't jan do something for her district?
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can send the firefighters to fix the leaks
ReplyDeleteTo those wondering why Jan won't do anything about the problems south of 59th Street--that area will soon be in the Sixth Council District, and she now cares even less than she did before about us.
ReplyDeletedont feel bad there was a river running at 83 ward parkway for a month finally got fixed this week
ReplyDeleteTwenty years ago I was at the intersection of I-435 & Holmes, stopped at a light. I smelled something BAD and it was Summer and my window was down and I stuck my head out the window and looked down at the ground. There was human sewage coming up through the cracks in the pavement. A couple of months ago I was at the same spot....looked down, and the sewage was STILL there. Oh...we're talking about water lines? Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe water bills have gone up dramatically. KC council settles a suite by giving 15 million. The power and light district gets 14 million a year to cover the failed projects bonds. And yet they want you to add new charges and taxes to your obligations. Why do people even consider voting yes on any tax increase. Vote NO on everything until these bastards get the message.
ReplyDeleteKelly has low hangers.
