Thoughts Regarding Kansas City Residency

The South Kansas City Observer collects some important thoughts and a few facts regarding residency for employment at City Hall in this awful cowtown.

  1. The Star says the investigation was instigated by one of its reporters. The investigation wasted $72K of our tax dollars. The judge clearly complies with KC's ambiguous residency requirements. The Star should be ashamed, but instead is questioning the commission.

    Pull your heads out, guys.

  3. Here's my question: If a residency requirement was actually the best practice, wouldn't all cities have one? The answer is yes. However, it is obvious that most cities do not require their employees to live within their own city. If they have a residency requirement, it is usually that the employee must live within the same State, but not the specific city. How far away the employee choses to live, is up to the employee. Wasting $72K to investigate an employee is a total waste of taxpayer money and again demonstrates Kansas City's lack of priorities. Just do away with the incredibly foolish policy!

  4. SKCO Nails it - what determines residency? Owning a home and paying taxes on it is not sufficient? Owning a car and paying taxes on it is not enough? Where you sleep is your business not the government's. Do we really want to start down this road? What was the justification for the expenditure of 72M dollars to begin with? If you want a witch hunt go after the KC Star and those at City Hall that thought this would be a good thing.

  5. new memo to Franco... the law is the law. If you don't like it change it LEGALLY. At your low level in the judicial dog pile you can not be an "activist judge"
in the words of Emma Sullivan "YOU SUCK"

  6. New memo to thin margin: Franco is obeying the law. Read the residency requirements.

In words you can understand, you're ignorant and you suck.

  8. City residency..what a joke. If I was fortunate enought to own a lake home or a home away from the city, would I have to check in with city hall every time i wanted to sleep there? The city actually thinks that they can tell you where to sleep at night, and if you dont comply..you lose your job. Are we in a Communist State?..is Big brother watching everything we do..? I hope someone slams it in the city's A...over this one..what an outdated controlling policy. This is the U.S.A...not China!!!!
