DEFERRED MAINTENANCE COSTS KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS $55 MILLION!!!

The bad news just keeps coming for beleaguered Kansas City Public Schools.

Read a GROUND BREAKING REPORT from The Northeast News that's every bit as smart as Alice Goodwin in a mini-skirt:

KCPS Board of Education recently approved the $55 million allocation from its Capital Projects Fund and approved a contract with HMM Construction Services to execute the building refurbishments and serve as program manager.

The HUGE cost is mostly because of, you guessed it, deferred maintenance.

On the bright side, the rest of this town is crumbling because of deferred maintenance so that doesn't put the KCPS very far behind the curve. At this rate Kansas City will never learn a very simple lesson: Maintaining infrastructure is more important than building money-losing party districts.

  2. Is HMM Construction Services an actual company, or just another front like the Citadel Plaza crowd?

  7. I don't know or care anything about the politics or people involved in the award of this contract but what I do find interesting is how a company that has been in business for less than 2 months can meet the experience requirements contained in Section 8b and 8c of the RFP?

Keep in mind, the experience requirements in those sections of the RFP are for the FIRM OR COMPANY, not personnel. Key staff qualifications are requested in Section 8d.

    Just askin'.....
